I got a " actually we don't allow bikes in the cafe [/smug]" from the manager so screw them!

hah that is rude...actually? As opposed to the time they'd never mentioned it to you before? Werd on hippies being a little more forgiving, and observant, with less smug directed at they customers.

So I am needy:

Another request. I slacked on this quest this past summer when the city was teeming with them....
I need to get a picture of some "Hospital for Sick Children" canvassers for use in my research. Has anyone seen them while riding around out on a specific turf at this time of the year? Bonus if you take a photo of some!

Jesar just added some photos from Track or Treat to his Flickr stream if anyone is interested:

Why don't you call the Sick Kids foundation and ask where they are.

public outreach has the contract for collection donations for sick kids, so they'd be your best shot

Well they never mentioned it to me before 'cause I've never brought my bike in before. That particular day I was on my road bike and didn't have a lock and that bike is either next to me, under me or in my apartment!
No way in hell it's getting left unattended.

Anyhow... finally got my beans today and also sampled some el salvador coffee from the fancy clover machine while I was in. Good stuff!

I usually see them around bloor street between yonge and bay or a ong st. george. It shouldnt be too hard to find them, they seem to be more rampant than homeless people as of late.

That's -1 at Pearson (unless you have your own thermometer?)... I ususally go with the data from Toronto island. Not quite as accurate for you because you don't live as close to the water as we do, but I bet the weather at your house is closer to the island than to pearson. Anyhow, Island is +2! Hope that cheers you up a bit :)

You're dead to me.

When we were at Manic yesterday they were playing Black Sabbath. I walk in this morning (I just had a craving for a pumpkin cookie is alls) and they're playing it still/again. Good times.

Also, what's up with elitist roadie scum? There's a guy in my building that commutes in full kit on various high end road bikes who won't even make eye contact with my lowly fixie riding self, even after I chatted bikes with him once. The fawker didn't even hold the elevator for me this morning when I was like 15' behind him. I hate people.

The only solution is to drop him while riding a junker. He still won't make eye contact, but it'll be for a better reason. It's a funny mindset- those guys will acknowledge me when I'm out on my litespeed, but react completely different if I'm on my 'lil hauler.

Also- them beans I got yesterday are simply fantastic. It was definitely worth the extra effort to wait for them

somnambulant 11-02-07 07:21 AM

Good to hear. On a related note, when *moustache guy who's name I forget* was making my americano this morning he made two attempts at pulling a shot of espresso for me. I mean that as a compliment as well. When he pulled the first one I think the grind was likely a little too fine, and so he dumped it, changed the settings on the grinder and pulled another one. Now that's service!

Herbie_Glick 11-02-07 07:23 AM

Haha well when Johnny made my coffee this morning he told me to F@#% off! haha oh Jet Fuel, I remember the time when I thought he was serious! Definetly not a morning person.

somnambulant 11-02-07 07:31 AM

...or an afternoon person, or an evening person, or a night person. :)

nerdsgirth 11-02-07 08:04 AM

Man... is Manic greasing your palms just a little bit? ;)

Off to Mtl with Dan today! So excited. I have been talking to Napalmandroses (the organizer) about it. He is giving away a custom frame build by himself to the top female. LNMO cycles?

Dream sequence: Think Canice.... you could win a frame this week and win $1500 next week.....

Thanks for lending the carrier Brad! Everyone go to Wes' show!

He is threatened by your hipness, and terrified that you might ride in with him. Nothing would upset the balance of his universe more than some one gear'r school'n him on the street. It is all about gear selection right?

nerdsgirth 11-02-07 08:05 AM

nah... it is about spandex

Except "gear selection" can mean choosing the correct ratio, or making sure you have fashionable bottle cages.

TRaffic Jammer 11-02-07 08:06 AM

I like the spandex as much as the the next guy. I suppose it's cross contamination of some sort.
 Bottle cages.....I still can't believe 100$ swoopy ribbons of CF exist for this purpose.

Next time you hear him clicking towards the elevator Wes. Start hammering towards the lift with your MTB goin' full tilt with him cramming his delicate CF road ride in there.
