For the cx race this weekend someone on the cx-ontario website asked how many stakes they use to tape the course. One of the organizers responded:

"Between the 2 courses this year we will use approx 1800 stakes and 14+ kms of caution tape. about 45 rolls."

Yowzers!

Way to go Mike!!!! Woot!!!

Thanks for the input Keith, I totally know it's too late to be contemplating this seriously.
I'll ask Bobby, about that.

Talk to whoever Bobby is and if he can't help you out, get in touch w/ me at the shop - (416) 778-6473. I might be able to work out a loaner for you.

Yeaaah!

Flimflam 11-08-07 09:43 AM

Schweet, hope it works out for you TJ :) Nice video, really neat watching the kids take part (esp. that one struggling up that hill near the tree :))

Maybe one day I'll try my hand at it, would need a bike for that though - looks like fun.

Idiot me bought canti brakepads, so I had to return and swap out for the Jagwire road pads they had - thanks to MEC for doing a return without receipt, w00t. Koolstops for post-winter methinks.

Congrats on the giving the boot to the cancer-sticks, shapelike... Big move, good stuff.

Cool! Looks like fun!

For what it's worth, you could run threaded canti brake pads on most road calipers. i've got a pair of cool stops on the front brake of my urbanite.

somnambulant 11-08-07 09:52 AM

So yeah.. Elite Pro/Am race on Saturday is at 3:00. As I mentioned before, anyone want to grab some food and/or go watch? I'm thinking now about grabbing some lunch/brunch someplace and then riding out there, watching the race and then riding home. C'mon, slackers! :P

jeremywhitehorn 11-08-07 09:56 AM

i would if i wasn't working.

I might come with you Wes.

Flimflam 11-08-07 10:09 AM

Yeah jer, I figured I could mount them on, but without the nuts I needed I couldn't be bothered playing about with it - I needed to change the pads out Tuesday, so I just exchanged and put them on last night before my ride west from the ex's.

I'd ride out Wes but it'd probably be rude to abandon my visiting family :p

Poor bike is desperately needing a clean from all the crap this week - Tuesday night was fun, especially since it was then I discovered my rear pads were down to the plastic. Russell Hill Rd. southbound from ~Eglinton in the wind/rain/dark with only a front brake... Yeah, fun times :D Was passed by a roadie who looked to be doing hill training on Poplar Plains Rd (he circled back up there, the nutter).

I've personally put over 5000km on this bike now, so I think I should probably change the chain out now too... (it's a geared roadie) thoughts?

Use a ruler.. line up the 0 mark with the center of a pin.. the 12" hash mark should also line up with a pin-center. If not, new chain for you. Correct me if I'm wrong.

TRaffic Jammer 11-08-07 10:14 AM

ah bugger... as it is 50 bux it too rich for me this weekend I think. Plus the thought of running on someone else's ride doesn't sit well. I'm reluctantly going to have to give it up this time. I still may come and watch though. Mike thanks for the offer of the loaner as well, that's super stand up of ya, but I must decline.

I'm in unless I end up having a ridiculously late night Friday.

Some food, a bit of the hair of the dog, and a spin will fix you right up! :)

Cycle Therapy Auction - November 17th

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2133/...f917b2dd_o.jpg

On November 17th Cycle Therapy is having another auction to clear out some stock before we move downstairs. We're losing a whole floor of storage and retail space so there's a lot to get rid of.

On auction will be bikes, parts, tools, accessories, apparel and anything else interesting we come across. Get in touch if you want specfics on items or just more info in general. The auction will start at noon and run for a few hours.

Groovy, thanks. I'll check 'er at lunch. Update: it's stretched quite a bit by the looks (expected, I never changed it when inheriting the bike) Now, being the backyard halfwitted mechanic that I am, a 7-speed chain is a 7-speed chain, right? I want to go and get a new one soon.

I_bRAD 11-08-07 12:58 PM

If it's worn enough you're gonna need a new cassette too.

Noice... Any FG wheel type stuff? I need rims, hubs, cog+lockring.. ideally black rims if you have any (Open Pros? :D) I guess I also need a bunch of other crap for my fixie too... Do you have any black cranksets in 165/170mm and 130BCD? A matching 68x110 BB for that would be cool, too...

I appear to be mentally spending all my paycheque here... hmm :p

Yeah that's a concern... my hub/cassette and stuff is old school... I don't want to spend much on this bike due to the frame damage, I also don't want it to break.

I think Sheldon Brown's site has a rule of thumb on when you just need to do the chain and when the cassette too. When in doubt, buy the chain and try it on the cassette. If it skips a lot, then you know you need to replace that too. Don't let it go too long skipping though, since you can damage the chain and be in the same spot.

Hey guys, is this a "sticker auction" silent bid type thing or a calling auction like you'd see to sell cattle or antiques? Also is it day or night? Just wondering cause I like auctions and I'm sure of where I'll be that night already. If it's a daylight thing I'll drop in, but night belongs to La Carrera for me..or maybe both, depending on the hours
