I'd like to meet this guy who rides with that bar drop and seat angle. Loving the fully raised quill with 5" drop bars as well.
|
Dropped by the Ex. but only met one guy there (Jessie), we hung around for 5 minutes and figured it was called.. On the way west we did a sprint from just before the S/F line to the lights. I got dusted... badly :p
Now I definitely need to clean the poor thing.. and a saddle change to boot! |

Yeah, I was going to say that seat to bar drop isn't really that outrageous to me either. I have total gorilla arms!

I've got the one where the guys are climbing up the embankment and dude's pulling a dog out of the way as my background image now. Some of those shots are absolutely horrifying ... just the brutality of the obstacles the riders have to get through/over/around.
|
^^^ great stash of pics. I am starting to feel the bug. Funny, I too pasted that same pic on my desktop. I think at the 8 hr I had the spirit of Roger Lacalle pushing me on!

I learned the connection between the guys and the shop on your blog, actually. :) I probably had a similar conversation about Fair Trade labeled coffee with one of the owners at the Green Beanery when I was buying my coffee grinder (Rancilio Rocky, if there's any coffee nerds in the house :P). Interesting stuff... but most will just totally eat up anything that's labeled as being superior (for whatever reason) without actually looking into it themselves. I'm sure we're all guilty of that at times!
As for manic -- I was suggesting to operator the other day that we (UofT-centric people) should go for a lunchtime coffee ride over there/around the area one of these days. Interested? |

What's everyone shopping for at the bike show? I am personally in need of:
2 - 12-25 9 speed cassettees 2 - pair of quick release skewers 1 - 118mm ISIS bottom bracket Then there is the long list of 'well maybe if..." |
-QR skewers
-seat (SLR or Fizik) + post -stem -track hubs / rims / wheels -tires tires tires -clothes |
Show shopping list:
Rims / hubs / wheelsets and just about everything else for my IRO build (BB, cranks, handlebars, seatpost, stem, front brake assembly) Tyres clothing (everything, I have no bike-centric kit) Budget is limited, so my priorities are wheels/rims/hubs. Anything else is a bonus. Where/when are we meeting for it? |

me too but i still wouldn't want to have that much drop and have all my weight resting on my hands. a longer stem, fine but all that drop seems a bit much, especially with the quill stem near the top of it's limit.
For the bike show: -Helmet -Don't need anything else but will inevitably buy things that are cheap |
i'm planning to go early, because i know there'll be a line up... and it's everyone for themselves...
i am in desperate need of a *good* pair of shorts, and by good i mean the pearl izumi ones i've been searching for. i could go into a big rant, but really without seeing me flailing my arms, it's no good. i'm also in desperate need of a helmet, since mine should have been replaced ages ago. my raleigh needs a saddle, kickstand, and grips. otherwise, i'll be scanning for deals on lighting/reflective stuff, and whatever other replacement stuff i can afford. oh yeah, and rain pants, damnit! ps. hello everyone... i've been in lurker mode the last few days. pps. i too have long arms! came in handy when i used to box. sucks for buying long-sleeved shirts/jackets. i wonder if there's some sort of long-reach gene/trend for cyclists? lol |
I have short everything. That is all.
Also- if anyone is up for gelato ride-about tonight, I'm actually free for once! |

PS, is it a crime that I've never had gelato? |
Guys - re: the sprints
1) Geared bikes allowed? 2) What's the distance on the sprint? 100m? 200m? Straight? |
