I love how it's just sprinkling a little bit, but once I'm 60 seconds away from my office it starts to pour.

Sorry Keith, but I know why your anti-rain dance didn't work today... It's because while I wore my goretex jacket, I didn't bring the pants. That almost guarantees rain!

I_bRAD 10-10-07 03:57 PM

I am officially not coming tonight. French onion soup and fishcakes is sounding better than chancing the rain right now!

Have fun everyone if the weather ends up working out!

Yup. I can attest to that. Luckily (or maybe not) I am also known to rant on guitar-related things so it was more of a balanced conversation than the bike one.

I'll still be about, as I'm about to head up East to see my wee dude. I'll drop by the Ex. in case people show or not. May or may not see y'all later.

Damn slack jaws and their assless pant promises. Wait, my waterproof bottoms are assless (toboganning incident caused it to "blow out").

Hmm. Maybe you're 'wrong brained'.

I'm heading out to vote right now - can I vote for the levitation people again ;)

I'll check back in afterwards and see how everyone's feeling about tonight. Since I gots the gear, if people are down to race I'll head down. If not:

a) beer/coffee/rsumthin?
b) stay home/warm/dry?

Herbie_Glick 10-10-07 05:01 PM

It stopped raining and i have fenders on my back up bike, I'll head down if I'm not alone. Benway, who is on your voicemail? she sounds sexy!

Just went and voted while my potaters are cookin'. It ain't raining, but the roads are pretty wet.. I'm not sure if my tires just suck particularly bad in the rain or not, but I know if I tried to race right now I'd most likely wind up sliding along the pavement at some point. :)

Herbie_Glick 10-10-07 05:18 PM

And? if I puke at 24hr races you best be willing to slide a little! ha!

Hah.. because I've gone over the handlebars enough times already this year! Between my bumpy-knuckles incident with the parking lot gate and my bursitis inducing flight off a thingamajig in the Don, I'd rather avoid any riding that leaves a large potential of me winding being *forced* to avoid riding. :P

ps. I'll never stop laughing at the expression on your face when I found you propping yourself up by your bike in the middle of the woods at 1:00am. :D

How about sliding through puke? Now thats a championship move!
I am holding out at the shop till closer to sprint time to see what the road looks like. If its wet we could always have a skid comp.

And I will never stop laughing at the expression on the parking lot guys face after you did an endo to somersault over the parking lot gate.

Apparently you can still order the '99, '00 versions of the campy shamal rims FTW. Oh and samhouston, I was the weirdo that said hi to you in the shop today.

somnambulant 10-10-07 05:45 PM

Hey kids, I just walked over to Parliament and it is still coming down pretty good. After talking to Captain Benway I think I'm gonna call it for this week. It works out really, as I can use the extra week of altitude training before winning worlds next wednesday :P

So does this mean full cancel or are there peeps heading down? I would just as soon chill at the warm household.

Herbie_Glick 10-10-07 06:27 PM

Full cancel, we said we would do it as long as it didn't rain last week. Sorry for the late call.

Awwww............Maaaaaaaaannnn...I was looking forward to riding across town in the rain.:D
No sweat....I just have to take off the 54t chainring now.

DrBenway 10-10-07 06:39 PM

Yeah we were trying to hold out as long as possible but it seems like it won't even be decent to hang out there.

Also, I just spoke to Rennick who's swell enough to volunteer to host the gear - since he's at Liberty Village - in case some of the peeps a lot closer than us East Siders still want to test the weather they can. This seems to change every 5 minutes. We'll work out the deets this week and fill y'all in.

sweep242 10-10-07 06:46 PM

Thought id drop a line in here & say I voted. Thank you very much.
