I use one of these:
MEC Micro Wedge

It's big enough for everything that isn't a wrench.. when I'm in full solo roadie mode, I can fit everything I need in there to fix everything but a crank - multitool, chain tool, tire levers, tube, co2 inflator+extra cartridge, cash/ID/tokens, and cell phone. It's small enough to not stick out / rub my legs, and the price is right at 7 bucks. They also make one with a quick on/off twisty-clip but it's more expensive.

I believe mine might be the one that's one size up. I usually just have a tube, tire levers, an extra light, pieces of an old tire in case I get a rip in my current and multi-tool. The one I have isn't the most convinent to take on and off, but it's on my road bike where I don't lock it anywhere. I'll have to look into something for my ss, as I'd hate to be stuck.

It was a nice day for a long ride. I put in almost 50kms and it is only 6pm, still lots of time to add to that total.

From what I remembered Keith telling me, it was $75 for any colour, but you'd have to wait until they were spraying a big order with that colour. That said, they may have changed it, or they may have known there was no way they'd shoot that colour.

Passes....we need stinking passes.
Keith PM a vous.

Yup it was Jetkote. They blasted over the threads in my bb shell and on my fork, even though I specifically requested that they did not do that, and although the assured me "oh of course we wouldn't do that". Luckily the threads were still tall enough that they could be chased and made functional again. I am also extremely unhappy with the 'quality' of the finish on my frame. It is bumpy as ****. And they left a patch of bare metal on the bottom of the bb shell. I would recommend a tremclad rattle can job over powdercoat hands down. Yeah it may not last as long but it easy to touch up and as Phil mentioned it is much more rust resistant. I mean I know some people have had better results than me but if there is a problem powdercoat is a ***** to get off and not worth the aggravation imo. Say if you have a crash and want to repair your frame. You have to contend with getting the powder coat off. Others may feel differently but I wouldn't do it again.

P.S. re: the pics, Nice shorts Matt :D And nice wheel Ryan :D

remember powdercoating steel offers no rust protection especially in the winter. powdercoad goes on bare steel and is baked on without any primer so there is no inhibitor. 15$ will usually buy you a bottle of rust inhibitor at your local automotive supplier. pour it in the seat tube and turn the frame around and around to coat it eventually leaving it to hang overnight with your dropouts pointed down and the inhibitor will eventually drip out the little holes in the chainstays and seatstays at the dropouts.

winter can sneak its way into your frame and rot it out from the inside.

This is good advice. I knew that a powder-coat was porous and in the past I had waxed my frames but your idea is much better.

I started using http://www.freetoview.net/ to go to demonoid to get torrents. A few pop ups, but it's still useful

Unfortunately those words on the levers aren't removeable

I don't think I'd mind having "Record" written on my shifters, that's nothing to be ashamed of.

Hey don't rain on Wes' new bike parts parade (and uh we are all very familiar with your opinion of words on bike parts. You might even say we have a 'Record' of it)! Lookin' good Wes! The lever looks good too;)

Nice!

I broke my arm two years ago and it was such a good feeling getting back on the bike. :)

Danhalen 10-05-07 08:54 PM

Yeah for sure. I've been riding on the trainer which helped but of course it's not the same. I'm glad I did that though because I still feel reasonably strong-ish. Come to think of it I haven't ridden my track bike in 3 months actually (one month in Europe on the roadie and two months since my injury)!

iherald 10-05-07 09:16 PM

Good job Dan!
