Vegas, skating, trendies. Got me to thinking about stuff like this.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kjV-l2DIp-Y That's the kinda thing that makes me want to break out the old ride and hurt myself. |
... And all of the silicone in the... uh caulking?

... Ok I'm actually leaving now! No seriously. |
Thank-you for that Brad, I totally want to session a full pipe now. I can't believe how many Tony Magnusson sticks (same as mine) I saw in there. My daughter skates on my bearings from the 80's now and I'm looking at framing my Magnusson and my Blender decks.
|
I had a Tom boyle deck for a while... but unfortunately I've only got a couple of my old boards and they were the 2 newest. My Uncle has my old powell-peralta bug on his wall in his living room though so I guess that counts for something :)
I expected you'd say that vid was too new school for your tastes :p There's a 3' mini ramp I saw somewhere around town recently... wish I could remember where it was 'cause I'd give that a go. |
 I used to skate vert with Tom before he went pro. he changed from being so quiet and shy to being an absolute animal within a couple years.... I guess partyin' like a rock star 365 will do that to ya. Some of the kickflippiness was a bit newer than my vibe but I loved it as they were being done on big burly street decks.. not oversized freestyle decks. You should head another block past Keith's place to Greenwood park... little skate park in there with a spine ramp. No halfs though....the world needs more bowls and halfpipes.
Those tight miniramps always gave the the hardest times. Slamalamadingdong |
haha. I'd never heard of him and just bought the deck 'cause I liked the shape. I actually bought it in Florida and then brought it home and discovered he was a local :)

yes.. bowls would be good. That's about all I'd consider skating at this point.. or perhaps hangin' out in a drainage dingdong someplace along these lines: http://www.howtoavoidthebummerlife.c...sweetiepie.jpg.
I think there's a pretty small half in the park at Dundas & Bathurst, isn't there? I've never skated vert though.. there weren't any parks in St. John's, too many NIMBYs. Plus it scares the hell outta me. :P ps. I really want to get my hands on Stereo's film "Way Out East" from a few years ago, but I've never been able to find it. There are bits and pieces on youtube, but that's not enough. :) It's all (or at least mostly) shot on film and has a really awesome soundtrack. Film = no skate noises though, which is kind of weird at first. eg. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzfyL2IzYHg pps. "Agent 382: Minister of Nuts." Gold. |

Little tight vert is scary..I liked the 11-12footers with ten foot transitions. Big speed ... big air.

Skate park at Stan Wadlow park too (in between Cosburn @ Woodbine-ish and the Taylor Creek) - no idea on the quality, I never did get into skating (curses to the gravel or grass surface choice where I grew up).
duppy - you going to the safety meeting? I'm thinking of going to CM for a spell beforehand... if you still wanted to chat all geeky-like I'll just go straight there. Dan, I thought it was cows semen he used? Either way, St. Anger was the last straw, anything beforehand I'm OK with, but yeah, Black album and before FTW (I just have a hardon for 'tallica, but St. Anger went too different for me to get into). operator mentioned a good deal on DA28s at his place .. but I really want Open Pros - Sportif doesn't have them in black though, booo. Decisions, decisions... DA28s would be OK on my Centurion though, the weight doesn't matter a crap to me anyway. (Anodized blue w/ black frame? hmm... I can get the DA28s in black for the Rob Roy though... but the Open Pros are going at a good deal - bleh :p) |

Haven't been this year, so If anyone is interested in making a trip, I have 3 skates sitting here just waiting to be used. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_XdMcni8wKg Mountain dropped by the hoof on the Flip tour last summer. |
