Cavernmech:Yeah, thanks for hosting last night! I also left my dvds on your coffee table by mistake. The ROAM one you can have if you want (although I think I may have given you a copy already), but James/Ronin wants a copy of the Fast Fridays disc so I'd like to get that one back.

Also, I probably won't be around the shop after work today.. one of the boys has to help set up some Nuit Blanche later this evening, so we're doing rock practice earlier than usual. That means we'll be done early too though, so I might give you a jingle when we're done to see if you're up to anything.

Yes.... thanks for last night Keith, was nice to see you other folks as well. Fun stuff. Those Interbike Velocities made me sad. Fashion is so fickle. Although...the rainbow effect possible on a radially constructed wheel with coloured spokes might be kind of cool.

"2007/09/28 08:49 Item was released from Customs and is now with Canada Post for sortation"

*sigh* now I can't stop checking.. :P

Keith: Tell Chris to hurry up with my mail! ;)

TRaffic Jammer 09-28-07 08:22 AM

*refresh*
And it's STILL @ sortation station for your information, thanks for your dedication.

I'm sure he will get right on that....after his early afternoon nap and lunch.

Or you could combine them with Hokey Spokes for a full daytime/nighttime multicoloured extravaganza.

Velocity should do a Andres Serrano tribute rim. In the style of the cover art he did for Metallica's Load album. Actually it looks like they're kind of going for that vibe with the black and white one in between the sperm rims. Ugh. Will anyone actually buy this ****? **** that is so lame.

I_bRAD 09-28-07 09:14 AM

By that Metallica reference I assume you mean "the beginning of the end" as far as street cred goes?

TRaffic Jammer 09-28-07 09:15 AM

I'm thinkin' it's going to sell like hotcakes... prepare for the explosion. As this "fixie" culture jumps over to the mainstream even more it's going to get ugly, and it's going to be completely out of the control of the subculture that helped start it. (unless pulled back at hard...locals only type thing) Just think what happened to skateboarding in the 80's early 90's. Sometimes subcultures can withstand the bright lights of mainstream attention.... sometimes they can't. Does it become a sport like skating, or does it crumble under it's weight?

somnambulant 09-28-07 09:18 AM

The beginning of the end? Anything post Cliff Burton is out of the question to me.. :P Well, I guess And Justice For All and the s/t black album have their moments.

Ahhh Thrasher. I miss "Chef Boyamihungry" and the obligatory vomit pic. GOOD TIMES!

Ooohh nice I didn't even think of that. Wow I'm so accidently clever. Actually I was referring to the bizzarroness/grossness of the sperm-adorned rims. The cover for Load was done by an artist by the name of Andres Serrano. He mixed his own blood and semen in between two panes of glass to attain that kind of flamey, gooey looking image on the cover. I think Kirk Hammett saw it at an art exibit and liked it or something. Pretty f-ing disgusting. Actually the black and white rim in between the two sperm rims seriously looks like it might be a black and white adaptation of the image I'm talking about.

Wes: I agree about the Cliff Burton thing, although I actually like Load. I'm not really a Black album fan though. The Cliff days were definitely the best though.

jeremywhitehorn 09-28-07 09:54 AM

i cant' say i understand the coloured / designed rim thing. or thinking about rims that much for that matter but one of those would be a nice accoutrement to my grimy city bike...

Danhalen 09-28-07 09:57 AM

Pure Class:

I think I might be heading east today so Mike I'll drop by and bring the coffee covers and peruse your DVD library.

Speaking of which.. the finalists for the Campy Bora design contest are a pretty big let down.

http://www.boraart.campagnolo.com/

The all look like things some 16 year old with a copy of photoshop would make, with a couple exceptions. Like the "timeless" one? Ooooh.. concentric circles! How artistic! Or the checkered one? Original! :P

I believe they are missing forest green and desert camo rims in keeping with said cheezy design, and how about spermy bora rims like those uggo velocities...cmon mang! keep it realz!!

I can't understand such intricate graphics on something that is supposed to be spinning. These designs just say...standin' around trying to look cool. The same kind of standing around that skaters do now sessioning a bench, instead of skating. Now cooler graphics on the frame I could see a bit easier.
