beware of red light blitz at yonge & dundas. myself and another guy rolled through the 4 way red light, there were two cops waiting about 25 feet south of the light to stop us. The first cop took down all of my info including height, weight, and eye colour?! but then the other cop took him aside and said something too him. i was let off with a stern "you're welcome" from the intervening officer. weird.

He's still weird! But good on him though.

Also, the other girl did become a doctor and just 'cause she got hooked on the hospital heroin doesn't mean she's not helping sick people!

Oh Pizza 73! Many a high school all-night party was fueled by the Pizza 73 4-pack.

Four seven three, seven three, seven three!

what's wrong with the bayview extension? i understand if the traffic puts you off but i always liked riding down that hill - in fact i hit my all time (recorded) and speed record -76km/hr- going down that hill. however, i would second the suggestion of taking either avenue road, or rusell hill road and heading west in dupont, then south on st george, bike lanes and all

Actually, it was the lack of traffic that put me off. Every time I saw another sign it was the speed limit going up again, and there were so few cars that most of them were going near highway speeds when they passed me. Combine that with the fact that I had to keep up with those hills witha 45x17 ratio and you have a recipe for one scared little fixed rider.

I ride Bayview pretty regularly to get to the Don (even at 32x20 :P).. the shoulder is pretty wide, isn't it? Or are you talking South of River?

totally. during my recent spring-cleaning-purging-of-crap at home i came across some of those types policies from when i briefly worked at a market research company in high school. (i always doubt statistics to this day). thank goodness i've found a job where i get to make yummy chili and then sit in my private office eating it and posting about it on the internet before leaving at 1:00... oh wait; it's that time now!

:commute:

I'm talking all the way to King St.

In hindsight, perhaps taking the lane was not the greatest idea. :(

Anyone know where they sell vintage steelcase type of office equipment? This is my dream setup (other than a 24 inch iMac rather than two screens)

TRaffic Jammer 09-19-08 02:12 PM

I scored a WW2 era office desk from Value Village (bloor near landsdown is a good furniture one) once.. it weighed about 150 lbs and was so big you could do trackstands on it.

I get the distinct feeling this is not a hypothetical statement. :innocent:

I have this jersey in a small (it's the '07 Deluxe):

It's about a season old, but I've now become more comfortable wearing mediums ... so if anyone wants it, it's free for the taking. PM away - first one gets it.

this is gorgeous + i want it too. i cant remember the name of it, but there is a big vintage + restored furniture store on the south side of queen just east of roncesvalles. its one of a string of shops, but you will know youre in the right one the second you walk in the door. they have tonnes of beautifully redone sixties modern home, office, and school furniture, including some beautiful steel desks. i covet them. my ex got a great medical cabinet for her foyer + a huge linen school map there for not too much cash.

kergin 09-19-08 08:56 PM

you can score that stuff when Universities and Colleges hold surplus sales. Its pretty grotty out the gate, but can look good. :)

Jabba Degrassi 09-19-08 09:11 PM

Tonight's ride from work was much less harrowing. I just cut right instead of left when I hit Bayview, passed through some random rich neighbourhood, meandered over to Yonge, shot down to about college, took Beverly to Queen, down Peter, then took the long way around the skydome and straight on home.

Only sketchy part was the crazy congestion from Queen to the 'dome, but that's the kind of sketch I can handle!

This is much more fun now that I'm riding all the way home instead of wussing out and taking the subway part way. Now if only I could climb well enough to ride up to York Mills! Oof!

Gardiner is closed all weekend, prepare for chaos. I love flying by all the lanes of parked cars on Queen/King/Dundas when this kind of this happens :D

~Stuart~ 09-19-08 09:55 PM

to buy a chris king headset, or to buy a cetma rack... that is the question

and does the chris king hs come in white? I need it for my black misfit

Jabba Degrassi 09-19-08 09:56 PM

Do you currently own a rack? yes/no
Do you currently own a headset? yes/no

There's your answer.

~Stuart~ 09-19-08 10:01 PM

the thing is... the rack will be awesome because its awesome, and if i get the king, i can move my S3 from my misfit, to my custom frame, and be one step closer to finishing it (sill missing spokes cranks though...)

no white :( black will have to do

~Stuart~ 09-19-08 10:02 PM

and stop with the logic, i dont like it, and it doesnt like me :P

and i just got word i may have a polo bike... aka piece of **** mountain bike i can destroy

Jabba Degrassi 09-19-08 10:06 PM

Wait until you're in a better position to get the other parts for the new project, then get the CK. You cna be enjoying your rack NOW while the other bike will still be sitting there until you get the rest of the parts together. QED.

Nice!

Just keep at it and you'll build the strength in no time for the climbs.

geez, i think i had your "dream setup" in my bedroom from ages 5 till about 20. i think my dad brought home the chair and desk from his office. i should have kept all that campy vintage furniture....

seriously though, maybe a place like bungalow has something like that, or one of the higher-end furniture stores on king street near george brown college.
