Anyone know where to get microfibre cleaning cloths in Toronto?
I rented a Serfas hard travel case this morning from Sweet Pete's to take my bike to BC with me this week. That thing is gigantic! Then again, my bike (Planet-X) barely fit in there as well.. :P |

I'm hitting the Moss Park Farmers' Market for 2$ baskets of veg and fruit. This year we are trying to do that 100mile source of food limit. As fuel cost peak ..so do food prices, locally sourced hopefully might be a bit cheaper. I'm glad Leslieville has it's own butchers (even an organic one), bakers, my buddy's cheese shop near Logan (Yum)

Weird morning, was raining when I woke up so I re-fitted my fenders, then I ended up leaving late, so I dipped down Yonge from College and took the train from Union instead of heading east. Drenched in sweat from the waterproofs/humidity/warmth and then cold on the train from the AC that was still on, meh.
Anyone going to the CMWC Art show opening tomorrow night? (9pm @ 152 Augusta IIRC) |
Nothing worse than a slow day at work with an intermittent 'net connection - computers are so boring without the internet! :p
Thanks for the pic links Matt, Gurgus :) |

well, the fixed gear is now, in my eyes, officially a mainstream trend.
i've had 4 guys (35 - 40, business suit, accountant/lawyer types) come into my store today they all say "hey, is that one of those fixies?" and they all ask how much it would take to buy mine from me and then get upset when its more than the $200 they are willing to spend. |

Its almost as fun as getting chastised by roadies.
As it looks like Rob is back around... we should start thinking about a date (in July?) for the Niagara Falls fixed trip(tm) - I personally want to try to camp out and do it outdoorsy, but that means carrying lots of **** - so I'm not sure about that yet (though I can soon mount a rack on the Rob Roy) - thoughts? |
just finished installing the planet bike cascadia fenders from mec
definitely a nice improvement over the hardcore fenders, which are like $8 cheaper better hardware (i had stripped 2 of the old eyelet screws and broke one in half while it was still in the eyelet after the winter, new ones use allen heads), front fender uses 2 spokes on each side instead of 1, much more stable and easier to align, the double spokes on each side are now one piece instead of two, this always bugged the hell out of me, so much easier to align now, i didn't have to align the rear at all, it came together in only a few minutes ... front one was a little more work because of the brake shifting it around, mud flaps are way bigger and should be way better ... other than those things they are more or less the same not bad for $26 pre-drilled fenders |
Operator.. now that you're back, how bout some pics of your much hyped wheel-build?

I've got my heart set on formula/velocity deep-v rims for my FG, but I can't decide on the colour of the rims. Should I get unpainted, black, yellow, or something else? So hard to decide... (I'd probably get machined all-black, but can't find anything on ebay :( )
something like this? |
did you guys see this? i love the rotafix crowd if for nothing else other than their ingenuity. not sure why i get so excited about simple solutions to little problems like this. something about the path of least resistance...
oh, and for those of you who i promised a jersey or other stuff too i'm sorry i flaked on it but i'm all packed and moved now. actually i still have a pile of components and tires and such at my old place; i'm going to have to put it at the curb soon. if anyone's interested in the lot of it i'll give you a heads up and i'll stash it somewhere if you want to pick it up before it goes... |

something like this? as far as colours go - i've had a few different coloured rims in the past blue... green... and i've always gone back to basics... right now i've got an all black wheelset, a black / ti grey wheelset and an silver wheelset... i do like the look of some colours but they have a tendency to get old kind of fast, y'dig? if you do get coloured wheels and want to get super nerdy with it go black on the back and yellow on the front. |
heya folks, new to the site and just poking around.. glad to see that there's a buncha fixie riders here in TO.
haven't got one yet, but am looking for a vintage frame so i can have one built up. a buddy of mine has got me totally hooked on them.. |
