They do specialize in butt***ing - they once left two laptops on my doorstep in the rain

How are you gonna lace Shamal rims to Dura Ace hubs? Are the rims drilled for 32/36?

Me too! Seriously, what a great way to start your vaca. I've wanted to do this since I was in the single digits! So stoked.

TRaffic Jammer 12-21-07 06:58 AM

*sigh* workin for the paper, there are no days off 'cept for the 25th.
Good News: I have a buddy with a Big Green school bus. He is agreeable to driving to London in the future for gas and dinner. Room for ten riders and their bikes..... just sayin'

kylehutton 12-21-07 07:36 AM

from what i've been told (i ship with ups daily) brokerage only applies to ground shipments.

so when buying off ebay and stuff i always price out the 3 day select, or another form or airmail through UPS as the brokerage fees are included in that. sometimes it is a bit of a jump in price, but it feels way better than having a huge fee unexpected at the end.

i just got some speakers off ebay and the person wouldnt ship anything but standard. $120 purchase price had a $55 brokerage charge thrown on. Merry Christmas.

my best ups deal is when i got my gt pulse, the guy drove it across the border and shipped it from Cornwall. paid $30 tax, and $20 to ship it on my UPS acount. Got it in 2 days.

For everyone coming to do LTR1 tomorrow. The session starts at 11 but we need to be there at 10:30 to get bikes set-up etc. T.J. and Brad are coming with me....Ryan is going with Shamil and Matt and crew have their own trans. Please make sure we are on time so as not to rile the session leader. Again make sure you all bring helmet, shoes and pedals, and something warm to wear.....it is only 15 degrees inside. See you all tomorrow. WOO WHO!

It's also smart to bring a multi-tool and/or 15mm wrench if you have 'em.

15 degrees...coolio that answers my what to wear, oh what to wear question. Next question... In regards to possibly sliding across the surface OR mass crashing into turn1 (youtube messenger vid for giggles). What is the surface like? It's looks like a nice old living room floor. I've slid across skate ramps with varying degrees of death by splinters, just wonderin'.
.
Clothes, shoes, pedals, brain bucket, tool, cashish, CHECK.
Regarding Oz mass crash, apparently everyone is fine, save bumps and bruises? Man that guy upside down on the railing must be thanking some lucky stars. Duuuude LATERAL 360 grind on the railing, so hardcore!!!!!! Take that Tony Hawk.

K what time you wanna bolt at? I'll be at your door.

I'll throw a bunch of tools in my bag... 15, hexs, chainwhip / lockring, pedal wrench, etc...

Keith, you mentioned that we should bring pedals - Erin and I were planning on bringin' our own bikes, is that ill advised for any reason?

The only downside i can think of that is if you crash, you crash the rental, not your own bike. I doubt it'll be a problem, last time we went only low speed slides off the bankings anyways.

TRaffic Jammer 12-21-07 08:54 AM

if you are experienced on the track feel free me thinks, me being total track/fixed noob it's the same when learning to ski or board ... thrash the rental gear until skilled enough to use your gear.

Keep in mind at some point you may be on the track with me.. n00bsterator. I think I'll be hangin' in the back.

Matt: Just make sure you guys aren't rocking brand new tires (or if you are, go over them with some fine grit sandpaper to remove the 'gloss') and you have any brakes removed and you're good to go. Obviously make sure the things are clean too.. I don't imagine they want a salty, street-ridden bike on the track. :)

TJ: The track surface is pretty similar to a skate surface. Smooth, but not like gymnasium floor smooth. :)

Also, make sure you all bring correct change. $30, methinks.

Fair enough - I think I'll bring mine because I'm comfortable on it and somehow like the idea of riding my bike in the place is was intended to be ridden. ;)

TRaffic Jammer 12-21-07 09:04 AM

Thanks Wes. Tens it is.... hey do they sell water there or am I bring several litres with me?
Anyone coming to The Drake tonight? I'm going to go easy on the drinkin'....famous last words. I'm a gonna be fuzzy tomorrow.

somnambulant 12-21-07 09:08 AM

TJ: Nothing but tap water there I don't imagine. It's pretty uhh.. "low key". So yeah, bringing a bottle or two is probably a smrt idea.
