I guess no one is really doing any work today? Everyone getting amp'd for the bike show?

Guys: any recommends for MTB shoes?

I_bRAD 03-07-08 09:51 AM

Can't go wrong with sidis!

Other than the standard issue SIDI Dominators? :) I love mine. They seem to keep getting more comfortable as time goes on.

I've heard good things about Specialized shoes, but I've never tried any. I say just try on a bunch and see what fits best.

i wish i could make it down today, but i'm actually working. i suppose going on saturday or sunday means all the crazt deals (like the $1 bar end shifers and chainrings i found last year) will be gone...

jeremywhitehorn 03-07-08 09:57 AM

i like specialized shoes because they tend to fit a bit wider, especially in the toe box.

And I will have them! mwhahahaha. Doesn't look like there's a sport swap booth this year anyhow.

in the fall perhaps? ... spring bling, fall mall.

My main concern with Sidi is the $260 MEC wants for them. For that cash, they'd better last 4 years or more, especially when my $130 Specialized Sport MTBs lasted for 3 years. I wonder if there's loot to be had at the bike show, or if I should just man-up and shell out for the Sidis.

Option B: I steal my sisters slim jeans and get some chuck taylor's & clips+straps.

I_bRAD 03-07-08 10:29 AM

I've got a pair of sidis that I've had since '01 or so and they're still going strong. 10-12 years is not unreasonable if you take care of them.

jeremywhitehorn 03-07-08 11:08 AM

the only reason i ever bought sidis is because i got a deal on them. come to think of it, the best shoes i ever had were a pair of shimano MTB shoes from the early 90s. i had them for 10 years i think. pink and purple too!

jeremywhitehorn 03-07-08 11:09 AM

that reminds me, i do want to look for a pair of shoes to replace a pair that's too small. hey, anyone interested in a pair of specialized mountain shoes size 44?

What model & how used are they?

jeremywhitehorn 03-07-08 11:27 AM

i believe they're the "comp" model, three velcro-straps. i used them for a season of dry sunday road rides. they're still clean.

it's these (black) ones:

I can recommend Teksavvy. Although I'm currently in Waterloo, they've been nothing but good :) and pretty cheap given that I split it between 9 other roomates. haha.
no bandwidth limitations from what I can tell either.

That white crap is falling again right now - wasn't scheduled until 8 I thought... ah well, ought to make the trailer trip tonight a bit more interesting :)

TGIF, seriously...

Flimflam 03-07-08 02:04 PM

worth a try, I figure...

Hey all.. just caught up on the last few days of posts. Wednesday ended up being an interesting day, starting with a CT scan and ending in an appendectomy. I'm back at home, minus an appendix/plus a few holes in weird places. Make sure to take London pics (if anyone actually goes), post some pics of your bike show swag, and I'll check in again soon.

Flimflam 03-07-08 02:16 PM

Whoa.... that's crazy Foo. Glad to read you're OK! (What the heck happened? Accident or just appendix decided to throw errors?)

Nope - I'm pretty sure that this post was made by Canice and she'd definitely know the difference between a fuji track and a hybrid.

Sorry, homies.

I_bRAD 03-07-08 04:05 PM

Picked up a wicked Uncle John CX bike from the cycle therapy booth at the show for $75

I also got some nice new tires :)

nerdsgirth 03-07-08 04:26 PM

I got a wicked argyle jersey and team kit (six twins or something) from cycle solutions at the show for $15!

I also got some mavic open pros :)
