Having a rack way out front like that, with a fork that appears to have a normal amount of trail, with a disc-brake up front = recipe for endo's. :P That thing looks hot though. I'm with you, I love the look of big fat 650B tires.
I'm still laughing at when Rennick was riding my MTB and kept grabbing handfulls of brake.. it was like a bucking bronco! :D Speaking of which, there's a good chance I'll be selling my Jamis Dragon Pro at some point if anyone is interested. Nice steel frame.. Juicy 5 brakes.. XT drivetrain.. Fox fork.. etc.. It's a 19". |

They have that frameset at Cycle Therapy. You can also retrofit the same system onto an existing frame with a kit from Xtracycle.

zippered, what's on your list?
1. shorts... that actually fit for once!! :twitchy: 2. gloves... 'cuz they don't last forever! (ps. whoever designs bike gloves with mesh fingertips between the leather ought to be smacked upside the head) 3. more merino wool socks... i <3 the pair i got last year! i can't imagine having to buy a bike at a bike show. my gemini brain would explode. thanks to brad's extended benefits package i no longer have to worry about looking for parts, but i don't like ordering clothing without a fitting session first. |

Have a real poutine for a change with some of the best. freshest curd cheese you will ever eat. Drive north into the Laurentians for a beautiful view Mountain day trip. No turning right at the lights and watch out for them drivers there. REMEMBER Jaywalking is a sport there, as well, service will improve if you at least attempt to speak French. Have a great time!!! Looking forward to some of that smoked meat and poutine... booya! :D |
Speaking of useful things on a bike, I finally finished a project I've been working on for the past little while:

Nice! How's the brightness? I think I'm gonna build up a generator wheel for my next commuter.
Also, everyone, don't forget... TURKEY CROSS! THIS SUNDAY! (SUNDAY SUNDAY) It's just in Cedarvale Park, which is near Bathurst & St. Claire. Here's a gmap link. Come on out and scream. Keith and Mike both race at 10:00am for 40 minutes. The Senior-Elite guys race at 1:00pm for 60 minutes. I'll be there screamin'/photographin', but not racing, on account of my gangrenous leg. It only kinda smells like almonds at this point, but I don't want to break myself again. :P |
I just found out that the 1x1 that I sold to someone a couple of years ago (and now regret selling because I want it back for a winter commuter) has been locked up outside with a NY lock for a year rusting.
...wahh. |

Speaking of winter bikes, I guess I should get back to the hunt for an old (Rocky Mountain) hardtail frame or maybe a touring frameset that I can turn into a decent singlespeed commuter.
So, we meet again, Craigslist ... |

I took a run up the humber recreational trail to try and find some darkness and it was up to the task. I never once felt that I was riding ahead of the light. Apparently it's bright enough to make everyone at the beach stop and look as you pass. Full brightness at around 10kms/hr and 2min stand lights once you've been riding for 10mins or so. I couldn't notice any difference resistance wise (while riding at least. you can notice if you just spin the wheel) Not the lightest thing, but I'm not much of a weight weenie. Best thing is that now I can ride wherever I want to, for as long as I want to and never have to worry about being without lights. I'd like to have gotten the Schmidt hub instead of the SRAM, but unfortunately I did not have an unlimited budget and I didn't want to skimp on the lights or wheels. Seems to work out pretty well anyhow. |

I've been thinking of getting a 29er for the winter, they look like a lot of fun.

If you buy a Jones or Niner on an impulse-buy I'm gonna hunt you down. ;)
Man.. it's lovely out there this morning. Just got back from a nice relaxed 40k + coffees (plural) ride with Briana. Good times. Sunny Autumn morning rides are my fav. I'd like to get in a nice road/railtrail ride in outside the city soon to check out the Fall colours. Perhaps that 95km out and back route on the railtrail from Cataract <-> Elora. Anyone interested? Maybe next weekend if the weather cooperates.. I'm assuming the trees outside the city have started to go through The Change. ;) edit: I just checked the "Fall colour report" on The Weather Network's website and it said that on Sep 25 (the last update) there was a 30% change in colours around Elora/Fergus. So, next weekend would probably be timed well. |
Here's my winter-beater-"porteur". I went for a cheap build. I may change the bars or stem or seat because it can be a bit uncomfortable, but I rarely do more than 5k runs with it.
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3041/...29d578e2a7.jpg PS. Yes that's a 700c at the rear, with a 26x2" balloon front. It also has an analog counter :p |

Dang ... yesterday I was in a course and I discovered I can't close my middle finger on my right hand without helping it or tons of pain. RSI(mouse), did I hit a bump and push a ligament somewhere wonky? Damn this hurts like hell and I can't get a solid grip on my bars without pain shooting up my arm. WTH? mmmm TurkeyDay approaches... gonna get my cook on.
BRad that light looks wicked cool. BTW unless something untowards happens at work I see no reason why I would not be procuring tickets to the Bike Show |

http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=414050 I'll be there at Cedarvale. I have my airzound all charged up. |
I'm thinking of doing a ride into Hamilton on Monday, riding down on the waterfront trail. But I had also hoped to ride up the 'mountain' one time this year. Does anyone know a route from down by the lake to a reasonable road (not too many cars) that I can do the climb?
|
anyone up for a ride tonight?
some major issues i need to get my mind off of. |
Just got back into town so missed the CX, won't be able to make next weekend either as my parents are still around until Saturday evening (unless you plan on Sunday :))
Fall colours in full effect, went to Ottawa on Hwy7 and looked very nice with its calendar-ific scenery. Montreal was lovely, my folks didn't take to it much but I enjoyed it a great deal. Gave me an instant difference in feeling (Ottawa feels different than Toronto, Montreal feels WAY different than anywhere I've been over here so far). Reminded me in places of the towns/cities in the UK. *Really* want to ride out that way, riding up Mont Royal looks like one hell of a climb :) |
