I just threw the bike rack back onto my car to get us to the race on Saturday. I hope that didn't jinx anything, weather-wise. :)

That Cyclops looks like a contender for "Toronto Fixed" bike of the season.

Today I big boy'd up and ordered my bike and some tires:

Tires are good.
Now you just need to scratch the frame up, and it will look like a real bike ;-) |
Donut on Sunday = 13deg. Don't be a square.

I have completed painting the fork and dropout. I masked off the crown to the best of my ability and gave the rest a sanding, prime, and about 6 light coats of automotive paint that I had matched at Robert Automotive on Dundas W. I haven't given them a clear coat. The paint still feels soft after a couple weeks of drying. I know a spraycan job won't last forever (or even a season) but for some reason I am hesitant of clear coating it, maybe because the original paint job is matte. Any thoughts? so, riding home on dundas today.
i was slightly behind a streetcar, around the same pace and this van kept trying to push me into the curb i stop when the streetcar doors open, and a car honks behind me i turn around, and its a cop. he tells me to move over, and pushes up between me and the streetcar, he tells me that i have to let cars by when i'm riding i told him i was trying to stay out of the gravel and glass he told me i have to ride as close to teh curb as possible, no matter what is there good to know the law is on my side when riding. |

Speaking of which though, now that it's starting to get nice out again, I say we pick out a park to raid every Friday night. |

i suppose if you have a bad accident and the cops aren't doing anything for you then you could go after them. i was just thinking of a driver trying to involve insurance in an accident even if it was on the road simply because it was in "traffic".

The cops can't do that. Under the highway traffic act they can only deduct points for motor vehicles and streetcars. The only way this will happen to you is if they "forget" to fill in the vehicle type on the infraction.

Don't rush to clear coat. When I painted up my frame last year I was a little to eager to get rolling on it and clear coated before the paint really cured enough. There are a couple spots on the frame where the paint + clear looked a little melty.
Ok. I'll bake the fork for a lil' while to harden the paint and then will take the time to clearcoat. I am a little worried about clear coat because I have read a tonne about it really running and sometimes even reacting poorly with your paint. It is best to match brands if you can I guess. Thanks for the input homies. Operator, I'll hit the donut with you! oh wait... give me another week or two ;P I used to ride it a few years back when I had a road bike with a factory paint job. |
Refresh my memory, what are the parts going on the Cyclops again?

*stumbles into room holding coffee* huh? mornin'..rain? crap.. *shuffles off to shower*

Man I'm wiped, heh. We didn't start back to Toronto until 8:45 (from Oshawa), and my buddy isn't in nearly the same shape - so it took us a while. He decided to take the bus from Kingston Rd/Eglinton (to Greenwood/Danforth area) which was around 11:05 and by the time he got home, I'd already got to Dundas/University downtown. I got in around 12 and then had to have dinner... doh :p
Glad I have that pass to bail me out, riding today would be tough on so little rest :p I have my daughter this weekend though, so a nice fun relaxing weekend will be perfect! Looks dreary and miserable out so I think I'll take my beater out. Road bike clocked up 122km yesterday all said and done. |

Seriously. Next time you see a couple of those bike cops around, ask them what the real law is. And also ask them how often they ride in the glass and crapola on the street.
basically i just asked him what would happen if i got a flat and fell in front of the van that was pushing me in to the curb. thats when he said "just be safe" and drove away. |
