seems a little sped up on my pc here, looks like it was a good ride

My wifes "new" commuter. Nothing fancy, mavic rims, axiom s/s disc hub, 39X15, 2.0 tires. Rides great, faster than I thought it would be and goes over everything. Pretty well bombproof. Total cost was $19.99 for the saddle. Everything was from parts I had.

Yeah Jet, there's a bunch that seem to show up now - it's great.

Video is sped up to fit onto Youtube, it's a 26 min. video squeezed into 9:59 - I paused recording in the break we had (flat?) on Bloor, so this is everything after that point. I have the first part from the square too, but it's only basically going up Yonge.

Nice build there pyze - obviously SS? Be a great commuter/errand bike fo' sho'. Are you fitting fenders on it for all-round usability? No need if wifey isn't going to ride in the crappy rain, though.

freecycle 04-24-08 02:21 PM

agreed, its a nice commuter pyze, id rig her up to be a pack mule, she looks like she could haul a crippled horse :)

pyze-guy 04-24-08 02:24 PM

Single speed for sure. She's going to give it a try and she if she likes it. She likes the idea of no gears so it should be good for her. Can't get fenders to fit the tires. They are huge. She's also a fairweather riderr so no rain for her. I'm just happy she wants to ride to work.

TRaffic Jammer 04-24-08 02:24 PM

Makes me wish I'd stuck around for the ride. Is a little sped up though. FlimFlam..what camera is that?

+12 for converting another one

Totally unrelated, here's my little guy eating avacado for breakfast.

Yeah, the speed is hard to deal with - trying to squeeze the footage onto Youtubes' 10 minute limit, as well as finding a medium that doesn't look boring to watch (real time bike video footage is pretty boring from my personal experience with all mine :p).

Camera is an Oregon Scientific ATC2000, I have it mounted just before the headtube (as you may've seen TJ) right now, but have had it on the bars and my helmet in the past too. Quality on it isn't bad, but I leave it on medium/low to get extra time on the 2GB card - Youtube butchered this one, looks pretty sketchy, but meh - it's a night video anyway.

Holy big blue eyes, pyze-man! :D

Cute photo, love the fire truck bib, too - He looks a lot like you in that photo :)

TRaffic Jammer 04-24-08 02:31 PM

10 minutes you say..... good to know. I know what you mean by regular speed looking a bit boring.

re: youtube limits: Use Vimeo. Vimeo is your friend.

"Vimeo is simple and appealing, offering good quality videos, a 500MB weekly upload limit and even HD content. As long as it fits within your weekly limit, you can upload videos of any length, and even upload them via e-mail!"

Flimflam 04-24-08 03:30 PM

Ooooh, OK - I was looking on there for that info but didn't want to signup - good to know indeed, I notice youtube have a 1GB size limit, but still the 10 mins. Facebook is 20 mins/300MB I think. Vimeo looks to be the weinar.

And I think my camera is to blame for speed/depth perception - I was hauling a good 50-55km/h down O'Connor one night and reviewed even that video and it looked tame/slow, heh - so it's probably just a lense/angle/whatever (I'm not a photographer ;)) thing.

somnambulant 04-24-08 04:23 PM

Vimeo also seems to be much higher quality.

Ahhh... there was some confusion in my question earlier - "where the rest of the group went." I was with the group that went down keele to the queensway. Where did Will, Keith etc.. end up?

That my friend, is awesome!

Flimflam 04-24-08 08:33 PM

Congrats 'Foo!

kergin: Wil took off at Bloor early on, I think Keith turned around at the entrance of High Park - we went up the hill and across to Windermere, I guess you all went left there at Keele/Parkside?

Nice setup! How big are the tires that you can't find fenders? There are some wide planet bike fenders that I bet would clear those.

cavit8 04-24-08 08:44 PM

I have a pretty wide set of mtb fenders you could have if you want to try it out.

Adam, congratulations on the wee potato.

Cool, the tires are 2.0. I'll swing by one day and check and see if they fit. Thanks.

Okay so far only TJ needs to confirm the hub order. I'll be phoning it in in the am, 9-10ish. Awkward sentence there.
