Incredible record - so bummed that "Lights From Paradise" didn't make the record and was taken off the Myspace... that was a serious ripper.

Kraft dinner and hot dogs cut up into it. So bad for you but so so good! Frank's Red Hot on top for style.

The comedy of errors that is my bike mechanic-ery continues...
While tightening the nut on my rear hub axle (the nut that goes on the axle securing it to the outside of the track end) I heard a snapping noise come from the general area. I have to check when I get home but I might have stripped the threads on the axle, which would be surprising since I didn't tighten anywhere near what the shop did. My combination of not being mechanically inclined but still insisting on doing my own maintenance is translating well over to the fixed gear world, haha |
Beans and wieners, but depending on how many ppl. Cans of beans are heavy. Potato Flakes are flammable just so you have been warned. I love the smell of burning potatoes in the morning.. Canadian Infantry rations are the best food for being in the field bar none.
The snapping sound is never good. |
Cous-cous! So easy and so delicious. Just came back from a camping trip to Killarney. If any of you ever go there, stay at site H1 for at least one night. Amazing jumping rocks and a beautiful clear lake for swimming.

Yeah I'm gonna have to take a look at the threads tonight. I was planning on learning hub disassembly anyway ;)

You guys continue to be incredibly helpful. I'll have to take a look tonight but I suspect that may be it. The threads sure didn't feel stripped and I wasn't cranking that hard. I might ride down to urbane and grab the part before I go home and hope that's the problem rather than get to my place take the bike apart and not have time to get to urbane before closing.

formula hubs are great but that one part is way too soft and fragile
|
ah heck Paulcomp site hasn't been renewed... oops someone screwed up.

is this the axle that's crackin'? I have a set of IRO I haven't built yet, and a head's up on delicate aspects of the hub would be good to know data.

Favouite camping food: the wine/beer that comes in those new-fangled plasticy bottles. |
The bugs are extremely tolerable. I didn't use bug spray for the whole trip. Got a few bites, but not enough to warrant the evil that is DEET. This is especially impressive because I'm usually the person that gets 10 bites while no one else has any. Perfect time of year to go camping.
Er... bikes! |

Not sure there's much you can look out for though. I was tightening the axle and it just cracked (assuming this is in fact what broke, which in all likelihood it sounds to be). |

Er... bikes! and instant oatmeal, sticky but the most rewarding breakfast, and instant coffee. tvp is key for roughage. ;) |
Hey Matt, went to urbane and picked up the part (asked for as "that thing that goes inside the dropout and breaks alot" which was enough for them to get it...) came home and sure enough that's exactly what it was. Replaced the part, reassembled my bike and no snapping noises this time around. Thanks a lot dude, appreciate the insight.

i hate carrying food.... my hard goods (stove pots, tent, leatherman ect) weigh in at just under 5kg. my clothes are maybe 2kg, and my food weighs in the area of 15kg
|
walking in the path the other day... i though it would be awesome to have an alleycat in it... like 2 laps of the path then out
yes, i like chaos and distruction, who doesn't? |
so far in denmark, other than the family bikes, the best thing i've seen is the amount of people running lights with magnetic dynamos. no need for batteries, or your tire being molested by a traditional dynamo.
http://www.reelight.com/Default.aspx?ID=56 how are these not more popular everywhere? |
