I just saw a quick blurb about it on cp24, but I can't find any detailed articles on the web yet. These drivers are getting out of hand, it's ridiculous. Also, Keith, what size is that pink bike? brand, components etc? |
so that's 4? son of a ......
This ******* HAD to squeeze me as opposed to the streetcar, his Avalon was new you see. To make matters worse all he had to do was wait a few flippin' seconds for either me to accelerate past the streetcar or the other way round, 10 seconds tops.. I can't remember having a car that close at speed in a loooong time, scared the **** out of me. He made several tries at nosing his way through, total ****. Time to get the police and the press involved. This is going waaaay beyond the 'God damned bikers' mindset that I'm so used to. What are those window clicker thingies called? |
its because people are IN A HURRY!
|
the Cops and the City will not do a F**king thing about it OH sureee they say a great deal when one of us gets killed but they do pee all about it that's a fact

Then the police and the city should be culpable for not making it clear. |
She said she pretty much just saw people running over to the guy, blood trickling from his mouth and a huge pool of blood behind his head

contact( Email ) city hall and ask the Mayor about cracking down on the drivers in the city and see what they send you back you'll be surprised I know I was
|
I'm starting to be tempted to start rocking a full-face helmet like Traffic Jammer! Or at the very least one of the Pro-Tec style helmets with more coverage. Does anybody know if they actually provide more protection? Or is it more of a psychological thing because they just seem sturdier?

Pro-tec skate helmets offer pretty good bang your head on the ground protection, I don;t know about off a bike though, I have seen riders in Pro-TEcs

They are designed to stop you from whacking trees and branches into your face, but they also work (to a lesser extent) to stop you from whacking cars or road into your face.

re protec: I wonder what affords the most protection in a car vs. cyclist collision though. I mean, cycling helmets are obviously designed to cushion an impact and totally deform (ie. crush). but, they have less coverage. This is opposed to a "hard" helmet which is designed to withstand multiple impacts and not deform, but has considerably more coverage. Do you know what I mean?
Personally, when I look at my helmet I wonder what help it would be in a collision with the car, unless the car hit me directly on top of the noggin. I guess it protects the "important parts"... but wouldn't you think they're designed more for a cyclist taking a spill by themselves vs. colliding with a car? Ugh. I'm just getting paranoid now. |
I think the skate (vert) helmet would give you more, and it's made for repetitive bongos.
I'm going to see if I can call in press contact. SomeHOW, the bikers HAVE to take that damned lane. It's the only way I can see. The drivers, I can't blame 100%, if they think they are entitled I can see why they would be freaking. I know ignorance is no excuse, but they must be away. |

dang ..... a medal for this man....

Deadly Encounter
A 42-year-old cyclist was killed Monday night, after he was hit while riding his bike at Cawthra and Atwater north of the Lakeshore in Mississauga by a car making a left hand turn. The victim has been identified as Shin-Fang Ho. He suffered serious head trauma and was pronounced dead at the scene. Police had the area closed for hours just after 9:30pm as they investigated the tragedy. A 17-year-old driver hasn't been charged but cops are appealing for witnesses. |

Those full face/protec helmets offer more protection especially for the back of the head where the roadie styles don't cover.
They are also safer because they look dorkier, there aren't any aer0 snag points on the rear of the helmet (when you rotate head on the ground it doesn't catch). When I crashed last year, I experienced that first hand. Of course it pays off more to just pay extra attention to all the hazards on the road. Edit: For greatest protection I think you'd need to wear one of those suits that one guy developed for fighting bears. Or be Robocop. |
