Woohoo cross border shopping!

There's very little in Canada for full on online shops. You'll find some shops have online stores, but that's about it. For those that carry track here's some:
http://www.labicicletta.com
http://www.brauns.com
http://thebikeshop.com/

The first two have higher end track stuff. The third is one I came across recently, and their prices don't exactly excite me.

If I'm shopping online, I generally order from the probikekit.com, which doesn't help you. Chances are slim that you'll be able to capitalize on the lower Canadian dollar for your track purchases.

What frame was it? Internal rust or something? That is a bummer....

does anybody know of a handlebar similar to the cinelli priest bars?

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2150/...248ff2.jpg?v=0

I really want the priest bars but the only place i can find them is on ebay and they end up costing close to $200 after shipping. I was also thinking of these but they're sold out. any ideas?

Yea, was going to suggest velo-orange.
Try Jitensha or Rivendell.

and for online shops you can try:
http://niagaracycle.com/

never actually ordered from them though.

Waychel 10-28-08 07:45 PM

Thanks a lot, guys. It looks like I can't afford high-end components even with the inflated U.S. dollar. Although totalcycling.com (UK) has some nice prices....

2wheelsgood 10-28-08 08:05 PM

thanks!

Flimflam 10-28-08 09:42 PM

West end bike improvement suggestions are being taken until Nov. 5th:

http://www.toronto.ca/cycling/public...nd-toronto.htm

Hard to resist scribbling every major grid, but I'll submit something I guess.

Oh, and also: poop to the wind and all of it's hellishness (gladly I was in Whitby today, heading north was bad enough for a couple of blocks let alone having to go to Steeles as per the last few weeks). I wussed it and trained it all the way to Exhibition station tonight.

first snow ride of the season! it was coming down full force as i was getting close to home, so i took the long way up some steep switchbacks and imagined i was a spring classics rider from the 30s, back when racing in the snow on a fixie was par for the course. yes i'm a nerdy man-child...

i know, those bars are awesome - i've wanted a pair for a long time....2nd on the jitensa studio bars, or check out some of the nitto city bars - they have one with more of an angle - they shoot straight back from the bend but they have a nice shape and a good looking satin finish. isn't the story on those priest bars something to the effect that they were designed for pope john paul after he was given a road bike by one of the italian builders (masi? colnago?) then he sent it back asking for a more upright riding position? hense the name. true story...

2wheelsgood 10-29-08 06:50 AM

yeah, supposedly in 1979 Ernesto Colnago made Pope John Paul II a bike and he asked for a more neutral riding position so this is what cinelli came up with. but as soon as you throw the letters NOS on something it turns into gold.:notamused:

trueno92 10-29-08 08:21 AM

lol @ that pic of keith on the trail.. for a second i thought he was waving a wad of cash for motivation!

but that would just be too serious haha

MORE COWBELL!

kergin 10-29-08 08:33 AM

Keith should dress up as Lil' Jon with the crunk juice goblet and harass at those games.

Hey, has anyone got feedback on using leather hunting gloves for riding in the winter? I'm asking because its the wind, not cold, which kills my hands. Any thoughts?

Also, been thinking about which would be better: clipless + winter cycling shoes / booties OR power grips + day hiking boots?

I think this is it but it doesn't have those bars. It is still not the flashiest Colnago I have seen though, hehe.

I bought some gloves at MEC with this in mind, wind-stopping, and I got these ones, the Traverse gloves. They are $21 and what I like about them is that they have a good grip area and that they are long so that my wrists are not exposed. They have a draw-string too so they can be cinched up easy.
