Bikes: too many too list
So the show doesn't have a ton o deals but a few items stood out as good deals to me. Reynolds 853 IRD Cross frames...51cm or 57cm..they had em for $399 yesterday...$199 today. If anyone has been saving their pennies for a MTB...brand new Aquila (I know..I know) TI hardtail, full XT, Ritchey PRO, Mavic..$1200! 19 and 17.
thought the show was pretty good, picked up a few deals
i was temped to grab a bunch of rapha stuff which was priced wrong plus had 30% off, but thought better of it (goin broke saving money as matt would say), my friend grabbed a nice l/s jersey though, they had a bunch of catlike whisper/whisper plus helmets too and was real tempted by those
highlight was riding electronic dura ace, that stuff is awesome but totally not worth $5K

I think it's worth the 5K just so I can ride around in big:big all day long.
I just finished my spring upgrade on L'il hauler. Schwalbe marathon supremes, a new rear wheel: Mavic XC717 on an XT hub with Alpine 3 spokes and an XTR 12-32 Ti cassette
Sure is fast and quiet without the studs!

I'll cast my vote for "black goo from the world beyond". Congrats Jeremy!
On topic: My wee guy is nearing the 1 year mark (wow, has it been that long already?) and I definitely think he'd appreciate coming along for a bike ride.. from those of you with little ones in tow, I'm looking for advice on buying trailers -- sliding seems safer than falling from a high mounted seat in case of a crash. Also, where does one get a helmet for a 1 year old noggin? Finally - is there anything particularly interesting to consider about riding fixed with a load (i.e. trailer+kid)?

Surprisingly little effect on ride quality, once you adjust for the extra width, which is not excessive. Advantages are that you are so much closer, can see each other easily, pass things back and forth, carry on conversation . Not so much crap kicked onto it as a trailer would have.
Sadly Cycle Therapy is no longer there to set you up with it. I don't know where to recommend now.
As Shapelike says (hi Mike!), there are good reasons not to start before 1 year. In our case we pushed it a little, given the distance to the daycare, the fact that it is smooth and on the Dundas East bikelane, and the alternative was walking all the way there.
Congrats on the wee one. Try to maintain something like sanity for 3-4 months which is longer than eternity and then its going to be great.

la bicicletta
most of the stuff with no prices (which was almost everything) they were giving the wrong prices, then it was 30% on top of that

so you're just supposed to ask someone what the price is? Or do they tell you at the cash?
most of the stuff on their "gear" table was priced, but I didn't look at their clothes (just figured it'd be too much anyways)

they were just putting them in wrong at the cash, when people were asking what the prices were they were the right prices, so i guess it's a crapshoot, but 30% off is still good
still expensive

thanks again for the passes, TJ... hope you're on the mend

I'm not surprised at the la bici "pricing" errors. I dropped into the shop yesterday to snag a shifter cable and they were running on skeleton staff and stock! When I mentioned it to the older guy running cash, he said that Henry (the owner) brought a ton of clothing with him that he doesn't want to bring back

Finally tried the donut ride this morning (trueno92 you there?). Got dropped badly on a 40+kph (yikes!) stretch, but apparently I was on the long hilly route with pretty good riders (or so I was told).
Anyway. 90km. Good start for the ''season''.

tough luck. I'm pretty most riders get dropped -- unless you're pro
what did you do after you got dropped? Did you meet up with them later?

Oh it was fun I'm very happy I went. When the group separated for the long and shorter routes I just chose wrongly. But I didn't know. Or perhaps the shorter route is as unforgiving...
After I got dropped I simply went back alone, but then joined my riding buddy (1st time there too) who got dropped as well a bit later. There he told me he was told we were on the long route with high calibre riders.
