Haha, sweet I want to see it when it comes out. must've been cool. One guy did a take from with the camera set on the ground. That would be cool to watch.

eyefloater 04-29-06 10:59 PM

Next CM I'm busting out the handlebar tripod. That should be good for some mayhem.

Honey? Does this bike make my butt look fat?

I'll bet we passed each other in the market without realizing. I'll be there again today, supposed to be even nicer. Then I'm gonna try and track down an adapter. Neither Active Surplus nor that place on Bloor & Butt Rash have one with the specs I need. If Radio Shack doesn't have it I guess I'm out of luck.

I wonder about a lot of the commuters questioned in that survey.. Unless they magically only chose the most hardcore riders or something. The majority of people on road bikes? I don't know about that. The vast majority ride every day? Maybe they do, but only weather permitting. If it's raining or Winter I see FAR less people out there. etc, etc, etc. But I guess at least it's a sign that some major media outlets are paying some attention to cyclists for a change.

I saw a guy yesterday on harbord. Looked like he was maybe in his 50s (grey hair, etc). Dirty clothes. Big "construction worker" boots on platforms (with the standard "heels on pedals, toes pointed out" stance). And he was riding a Look framed (or at least a frame with large Look logos) fixie (potentially a single speed I guess). Is it wrong that I automatically assume it's stolen? :)

Anyone riding today?

its the same as riding your bike through a beach.

and I finally found a good route to get downtown quick. my time today was around an hour and a 1/2. I'm aiming for around hour or so by summer vacation.

It's been like that since last spring when the Don crik overflowed. You should have seen the washed out bridge and all the deadwood piled up. Must have been quite a sight in flood. There is some sand in spots but it's a reasonably easy pick through. I generally just use the south end and climb out of Willket to Leslie (i.e. pothole boulevard).

I may be heading out to the Westend for a bit so if anyone wants to hook up downtownish, post.

I had on a skull helmet and a red/silver messenger bag //// there use to be a place near Church and Queen that had electronic parts of all kinds we would get telescope motor parts there ( I forget the name)

Joe Bent 04-30-06 09:53 AM

I thought that area was just camera stores and pawn shops? I'll explore if nothing turns up at the Shack.

...don't remember a skull helmet, but I'll be sure to say hello. I'm usually on a black Puch.

they used to be on Church /north/south of Queen I have not been there in awhile but it might be woth a check.

operator 04-30-06 12:15 PM

What exactly are you looking for Joe?

qqy 04-30-06 01:07 PM

Anyone know what the hell is going on with Toronto's trail networks?! The waterfront trail is still shut down past the CNE and now the enterence to the Don MUT (my favourite when it's quiet) is shut down until May '07. Looks like I now have to use the road all the time...

cavit8 04-30-06 01:17 PM

This is likely the reason behind the Don closure:

Not sure what's up adjacent to the CNE. Sort of looked like reconstruction the last time I was by there.

gboy 04-30-06 01:55 PM

Just got the May/June issue of Canadian Geographic in the mail, and Toronto's Critical Mass was featured in the back pages. Anybody recognize anyone in the pictures?

operator 04-30-06 02:06 PM

Post them.

is there an online link to the pictures or just the mag?

gboy 04-30-06 02:12 PM

Well, there's this link, but unfortunately it's only an excerpt from the magazine. I could scan the rest of the pictures in, I guess?

gboy 04-30-06 02:44 PM

Here's the scan.

operator 04-30-06 02:51 PM

Bigger.!

Edit: What exactly is your avatar showing gboy? Something looks weird with your thigh.

gboy 04-30-06 03:24 PM

I gave up on scanning the Canadian Geographic article, software doesn't want to cooperate anymore; check any Chapters/Indigo, they'd probably have the May/June issue on the stands by now.

About my avatar - yes, it's my leg. I think I took the pic a couple week's after my bike/car collision in October, so my thigh was probably bruised slightly. A more recent pic, a few months after the third (in a span of three months!) car/bike collision (no stiches for the first two collisions, then about five on the underside of my right knee for the last in December). Yes, I'm very accident-prone.
