Safety meeting Friday? I'm in town for a couple of days and may be able to hit it up if it's on.

Pints@Polson?
man, i haven't seen elmer since grade school
Yep, it is a 126mm spread in the back. I don't think the frame has changed but I could be wrong. A lot of the C&V guys run newer setups on older bikes and many of them just jam the wheel in there and I followed suit. Seems okay so far...but now I am worried

Also, I'm down w/ a safety meeting. Please post an actual location.
I'd be down with a safety meeting, I'm not sure if I'll be back from hamilton in time, but if so I'm there.
Damn, safety sounds like fun but I am committed to something already...if it doesn't work for Friday night, Saturday works for me.
I *think* a neighbour is giving me a tandem! This thing is crazy old and he said it doesn't work as it is but it sounds like it could be fun.

Is it time to dare I say... start a new thread? man it is slow.
In the don this aft, I came across an eastern fox snake(!!!) crossing the road on the way back. I stopped traffic to let the meter long fellow cross. A Spanish guy joined me and said that it was the first snake he had ever seen. Rad.
(not my pic)

I don't find the thread particularly slow to load, if that's what you guys mean.
re: safety meeting, I'm okay anywhere. I'll be on a Raleigh 20, so I'm mobile.

it's not slow right now, but it usually is
definitely off and on, usually slow during the day, faster at night

I PM'd MIN - the SS/FG mod - to see if there are any performance issues with the site. If its just the length of this thread killing performance, they should split it and archive the old half.

I dunno how to archive half of an epic thread. if you'd like i can lock this with a redirect to a new thread.

It seems to load slightly differently depending on how you approach the thread. A direct link to the Toronto thread seems slower than climbing through the hierarchy -> ss/fixed >> Rides and races >> toronto thread.
We could just start a parallel thread and see if that solves it before locking the current thread. It is pretty friggin' huge, mind you. I still search it periodically, so it's nice to have it intact though.
I'm okay for safety @riverdale or at Poison or wherever.

I'll have to wait and see what happens with my wee one tomorrow, if that falls through then I'm in for a safety meeting - Riverdale west top bench, you say? Mmmkay.
I've noticed the thread loading SLOW the past few days, too, but nothing else on the forums is slow, so I figured it was also a size thing (hurrr, that's what she said!).
Went through my tube (pinch flat on some uglies on Keele) this morning heading north, rode the rim down past Downsview park
Then my spare tube turns out to be not-so-functional and I first found out turning left to go east at Keele/Wilson - got very squirrelly, the asshat at the Petro Canada(?) on the corner wouldn't even turn on the air machine for me, and I wasn't about to pay $1 for it, so I hand pumped, tried it, BANG off the concrete creases so meh, had to bus it. It happens, but was a lovely day regardless.
That snake pic is nuts, I've not seen any wild snakes down there yet, but have seen a turtle (tortoises? I'm ignorant of the difference), a deer and a groundhog amongst the other more normal wildlife.
I forgot about the race tomorrow too, I guess I might go to that if I'm able to.
Twitch: the messengers/ex-messengers can answer this more accurately I'm sure, but I think it's an old radio term for when folks get together to chill out, twist up/open and smoke/drink rather than being all obvious about it over the air.

Bottom bracket is toast. Went to Urbane to find out definitively what size spindle I need thinking that since they built the bike and apparently sell about a jillion of them they were going to be the absolute authority on what BB I needed.
The parts desk guy wasn't totally sure so he asked around and came back. "110 dude, although we don't have any in stock, come back next week". No problem, I buy everything from that shop and don't mind waiting a week 'cause I've had nothing but good experience. A week passes, I grab the bottom bracket saying "yeah dude, I need the bottom bracket on the speciale fixed". No problem, dude grabs me a UN54.
I go home, just took my old bottom bracket out and sure enough right there printed underneath the word "Truvativ" is the numbers "108/68"....
I'll see how the chainline looks but man, how does that even happen? God damn

How do you run out of square tapper BBs at a shop like that? It's almost like saying they ran out of inner tubes...

Well, the upside is that after putting everything back together and taking a look at my chainline, I realized that the crap touro chainring I have on there is out of round enough that I don't think 2mm is going to make a difference. Meh.
