Then I was like lets settle this by RACING, he's like OK. At the next intersection he pulls onto the road and like, are we doing this or what. I don't answer him look down at this bigass dial on my handlebars and turn it to 4000W (p0wnz0r level) and go eat it, west side story *****!

As I was powering up my rear wheels starts burning off rubber and he disappears in an envelop of dust. 5 seconds later I was 2km in front of him and doing 50kph up a 10% grade.

kthx.

note some events were dramatized

what is the bestway to keep the rear wheel on a singlespeed or fixie with vertical drop outs?

operator 05-01-06 03:01 PM

Yeah, my writing is clearly better than his.

A quick release, a bolt? I think i'm not understanding this properly...:o

STEEKER 05-01-06 03:06 PM

I want one of those, but only if it comes with a mock carbon fiber face.

somnambulant 05-01-06 03:07 PM

YOU THERE!!!!! You should be smacked for making such a comparison.
bahahaha.. I loved the book too, but I couldn't help myself. :D I actually just re-read it last month.

if the dropouts are vertical, the axle can't slip forward so a QR should do. not really sure what you're asking tho...

STEEKER 05-01-06 03:21 PM

I will put up a link to the picture that shows I hope what I am trying to ask the lock bolt just does'nt stay tight http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/7...ello060023.jpg

For shame.....:p

STEEKER 05-01-06 03:32 PM

well with a quik release I would'nt have to worry about stripping anything unlike the bolt which strips, maybe I could drive my bike over to Carvern bike shop and ask them.

TRaffic Jammer 05-01-06 03:35 PM

How much play do you have on your chain?
Looked at the pic. I don't see why a QR wouldn't work.

STEEKER 05-01-06 03:36 PM

not much right now it does not jump off the ring

As it looks like you are only partially to the back of the drop out, I'd say a QR should do ya.
Crank it down though.

STEEKER 05-01-06 03:53 PM

hard to type the write words and think on theses pain killers but the lock nut striped I got it off and put on a campi QR

eyefloater 05-01-06 04:19 PM

****ing Ryerson admissions office w/ their busy phone line all day that closes half an hour earlier than what their site says! *throws a cop car*

Operator, best story evar.

Edit: So I went out for a ride, stupidly forgot to install a bottle cage on the Lemond and didn't drink a thing until I got back to downtown, proceeded to drink a litre of pop before making a b-line to the gf's bar, wolfed down 2 pints and made my way (thankfully downhill) home. The Sarthe gets a bottle cage tonight and I learned a phlegmy/headachey lesson.

Check these out lol. Good for beaters? http://toronto.craigslist.org/bik/156175584.html

That's why tomorrow I'm showing up in person w/ a pistol grip pump and a squad a rabid lawyers (or just a determined look and a magazine with which to kill time while I wait).

TRaffic Jammer 05-01-06 05:14 PM

bring a book.... might impress

cavit8 05-01-06 05:18 PM

Steeker, with those vertical dropouts quick release should be fine for SS. If you fix it, you'll likely want to go to a solid axle and nuts. Why do are you using a safety skewer anyway? You never get more than ten feet from that bike!

eyefloater 05-01-06 05:19 PM

... on the basis that I respect your opinion, I will follow your advice. But man oh man did I ever want to launch into a "financial institution, not a learning institution" rant about the post secondary school system. I'll save that for another time when people are actually in the mood for a vitriolic diatribe. ;)
