i bought a pair from NYC bikes on line for about $50. they proabably sell them at urbane though. if you already have downtube shifters you can just buy the adapters to run them as bar ends.

operator 05-08-06 02:59 PM

OOOH adapters, urbane too?

no idea. you could probably find them if you call around. maybe start with bicycle specialties.

okies I drilled out the valve hole to shrader size and got the tire on with out ripping the tube mounted the rim poping a Perk and going for my first Fixed ride:D

Shiznaz 05-08-06 05:29 PM

hmm.. something about mixing power drills, aluminum rims and percocets seems kind of dangerous to me. Why on earth didn't you just keep the schrader valves? are you crazy?

sr20det 05-08-06 05:31 PM

thats the exact reason why they make presta adapters.

from presta -> schrader!

man, i could have given you some pretsa tubes; i don't feel right about you riding on that compromised rim.

STEEKER 05-08-06 05:55 PM

well I hate presta valves they allway's caused problems for me so I stick with shraders I've do it before with no problems.. the first fixed ride was fun I was slowing down with my legs and brakes I did get bumped off the saddle a few time and when I went to move position on the seat the peddles gave me a reminder but I just had the tooth done so riding so soon was abit stupid so I headed home spiting out blood that ruined the ride abit  but it was alot of FUN too

operator 05-08-06 06:02 PM

Schrader FTL.

STEEKER 05-08-06 08:14 PM

How many of you can ride your fixies backwards **********

eyefloater 05-08-06 08:45 PM

Not me, but one time I saw the Prince-Mobile: it's a bright purple Bentley convertible w/ gold detailing. The man's pimp hand is strong.

I'll have a look through my parts bin and see what I have that's not pooched. You might look at these if you're stuck

Cycle Therapy had a case of Shimano 105 1" loose ball headsets at the old location. If you're interested, I'll try to track them down (we moved, haven't seen them lately).
