FTG....

The best part of last night was when IGOR (chop shop guy on queen) was checking out Mitch's bike.
It was like a choir boy not being able to run away when the precher was touching his privates.
Mitch's face was somewhat distraught as if IGOR was molesting him indirectly through his bike.

FTL...

"He picked up the rest of the parts - a Girvin suspension fork, a set of Cook brothers aluminum cranks and Shimano shiftgear - through an ex-courier who owns a bike shop."

Is that in reference to you, Keith?

Only noobs have browsers set to underline links. Ergo you = n00b, link is automagically parsed without having to use javascript to insert it.

Igor is a classic fixture of queen west. He is so completely offensive, in a unique and creative way. I remember when his pit bulls ate 7 lb of kabassa sausage that he had just bought, and left on his counter (ummm, hello? what did you think would happen?). He erupted into a tyrade of lyrical swearing that had me laughing so hard I thought I would piss my pants. "Seven pounds!....I can't believe it!!!" It was gold.

I remember retrieving a stolen bike from his place the day after it was burned. I had a loft at Ossington and Queen, and went to his place the day after as I KNEW I'd find it there, him being so well known for shady gear. It had the bars cut, the tyres changed and my Time pedals had become flats. He's all oh how are you sure it's yours.... all the stickers my daughter had put on it... I knew. Then he wanted me to buy it from him. So the crackhead you claim sold it to you did all these changes to the ride in the three hours after he stole it from me and sold it to you huh? So I showed him my u-lock, gave my best messer growl (hoping my voicee wouldn't crack), and said I could either just leave with my bike, I could beat him about the head and shoulders and leave with my bike, or call the cops and leave with my bike. I left with my bike. As I was leaving I told him he a week to find my pedals, they were waiting for me 6 days later. He even tried to tell me he worked both sides of the stolen bike scene, the cops letting him slide on the cheap stuff if he turned over on the high-end thieves. What a character, I'm amazed he's still alive. Mitch I'd have shuttered too.

He also grabbed my wrist one time in order to study my watch. He approved by the way... He's the total opposite of the one other slovenian guy I know (who I met at a european studies summer course in france). Still, Igor's got that surly ex-yugoslavian charm to him, and he doesn't actually smell as bad as you would imagine.

Ahhh Igor. The epitome of capitalism. He operates (barely) within the law, altho from what the cops tell me he is not even supposed to buy used bikes anymore. My buddy who lives in that hood has retrieved his stolen Chariot kids trailer from him 3! times. I had a customer in here who was flummoxed as to why her Kryptonite lock only came with 2 keys. Why? Because she bought it from Igor and I am sure he held on to a few keys for "safekeeping" He used to be a cop in Eastern Europe many years ago. I wonder why he isn't a cop anymore? cough *bribes* cough. He owns that building by the way...purchased with legit funds shurely. I have had at least 10 customers in the last year who have come in looking for their stolen bike, gone to Igor's and got it back..albeit with a little prodding and or outright threats. I tell people if you purchase stuff from him don't get all bent out of shape when yer bike gets ripped off...you help perpetuate the stolen bike problem by buying from him.
