Makes me wanna create a peleton of messengers, and other like minded misfits, and EAT THE DONUT!!!!
Sorry but that kind of really badly written attitude makes me want to have a full on mudder 4x4 at the turn around point when they all park to get snackies, then drive over all their bikes. I like how there sooo many courses that we mortals can ALMOST become good enough to ride with them, but they won't tell you where. *******S!!!!!

someone should also proof-read that shiat and hit the spell check button.. cuz there are lots of elite readers here.

They love to criticize the way everyone else rides and say things like "haven't you ever ridden in a pace line before???" as though they burst forth from their own mother's womb in a peloton, sporting full team kit.

2) Most of the rest of the group not all that bad, and are just out for a ride.

3) More than half the guys shave their legs...it gives me a semi.

TRaffic Jammer 07-31-06 01:50 PM

I used to shave when I spent hours a day on the road. It really does help ya heal faster when you use skin/road friction to stop.
I can't imagine a whole ride of asshats like that, it really does seem impossible. Oh but the arrogance of the site, it just oozes asshat, one that can't read or edit.

Dark .... you are so eloquent. Semi indeed.

eyefloater 07-31-06 02:02 PM

The donut ride would have crumbled in on itself years ago if that webpage represented the entire group of riders. That way I see it is that anyone who refers to themselves on the internet as being "elite" is an asshat, regardless of whether they're a 13 year-old script kiddie or a 53 year-old wannabe. I know some of the people who ride the donut regularly (hell, Jeremy is one for example) and they're not all like that. Even some of the rich weekend warriors are just bike geeks out having fun. It's a shame the website presents the ride in such a bad light.

Doesn't help much when they careen across two lanes of traffic to get you.http://tinyurl.com/ftufk

Re: the donut page thing.

a: I can appreciate how having some clubfoot possibly crashing you is a pain in the ass.
b: A few foamy OCP's can spoil it for everyone.

I'm sure as per DM, the ride is 90% everyman, 1% people who shouldn't remove their training wheels and 9% people who use any excuse to make people's lives miserable to justify their bitter existences. Who else would write such a twisted diatribe. Methinks we could cross post this a bit to get some emails sent to our valiant spandex warrior...

Sorry I forgot my sarcasm tag. I know full well what they were trying to say. I'm not even going to bother ripping into that.

And uh darkmother, if you're definitley going to hit up the donut ride one day let me know because i'd like to come.

gokiburi 07-31-06 04:48 PM

keith, are you in the maclean's article? did they take any glamour shots??

Ill Mitch 07-31-06 05:36 PM

I offered to pose in my flesh coloured body suit but they didn't want me :( But yes...I am in the article. Another 2 minutes of fame perhaps?

Only in this instance, that kind of condescending crap on that web page really makes my blood boil.
I hope the founders of the ride aren't aware of the page, or even the .com, if they are it makes them as culpable for promoting that attitude within their ranks, as the newer riders graduate to the front of the paceline. THEY SHOULD consider themselves lucky, we have our wonderfully even-keeled Jeremy subverting from within. :p

I wouldn't mind driving a 4x4 over a pile of bikes though, it would be a blast, but then again driving a 4x4 over anything is fun. :D

STEEKER 08-01-06 09:30 AM

naww I never lose my temper I just do a little vent .... I can barely tolerate AC in the work place, for some reason it makes me feel sick

cavit8 08-01-06 09:31 AM

Bahstahd! On the south-west end I get sun and heat almost all day. I need to buy some black-out blinds or wrap some tinfoil on a few sheets of cardboard or something...

Steeker, I feel your pain. With freaks like this character around, it's enough to cause me to skateboard instead http://photos1.blogger.com/blogger/3...0/_MG_4875.jpg :D

gokiburi 08-01-06 09:36 AM

wow, you grew facial hair.

TRaffic Jammer 08-01-06 10:47 AM

Don't be knockin skateboards, if it weren't for me rupturing my knee ligaments doing a big stupid assed ramp-to-ramp transfer I never would have picked up cycling as a method of physiotherapy, never become a bike messenger, yada yada.....

I ride now because of skating.
