Come pick up your tires. Wash your hands first.

Gokiburi, were you still interested in that Vittoria Rubino red tire? I'll swap for the black one you have.

eyefloater 09-29-06 06:36 AM

Keith, that email bounced again.

Q: Total ballpark, but how much does a simple wet paintjob on a frame cost (no fork). All I'm thinking is matte black w/ a bit of white. Powdercoating = no good for this one, unless it's somehow lighter than wet paint.

Call around to auto repainters and motorcycle paint shops. Prolly yer best bet. I used to get an auto-body guy to do some paint jobs for me. Typical cost was around $100-$150
yeah...my e-mail account wont accept the file....too big.

anyone know of any 3rd party software other than sharepod to load and unload tunes on an ipod...preferably low mem usage as well...itunes is crashing the ***** outta my comp at home (P3, 512 SDRAM) ;)

errrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ya single speed / fixed gear blah blah blah?

Shiznaz 09-29-06 07:12 AM

Man... I hate it when you're minding your own business track standing in the right lane waiting for a light to change and some dickweed in a car behind you decides to lay on the horn. It happened this morning so I decided to take the high road and ignore him, but then he keeps going (holding the horn down) and I snap, turn around yell "F*CK YOU AS*HOLE!!!" and then hock a HUGE loogey right at his windshield. He was a taxi by the way. I HATE TAXIS.

I totally would not have yelled and spit at him had he not been such a jerk.

Am I the only one that feels like they are being threatened when they get honked at?

When the horn sounds is usually when I jump off the bike and need to retie my shoelaces...very dangerous riding with loose shoelaces. What kind of test is required to be a taxi driver anyway? Seems the only prerequisite is to not know anything of the Highway Traffic Act.

always...damn Taxis are getting worse and worse...so is their driving...when one cut me off he got out to full on scrap and proceeded to tell me he hates "us ****ing bicycle people" I told him thats prolly y he tried to fking kill me.

TRaffic Jammer 09-29-06 07:27 AM

When the light turns green in that situation I tend to not be able to clip in at all or roll reaaaaaaal slow.

I feel bad for the folks who might not be as used to city traffic. I can deal with these asshats as I have been riding on the streets for many years. Its the neophyte cyclists that I worry about. I find it ironic that cabbies think nothing of cutting off everyone with a u-turn to pick up a fare, but as soon as they feel inconvenienced or slowed by someone else its lean on the horn time. Every evening on my ride home I have to deal with some clown who just has to get ahead of me to be 23rd in line at the red light. I will take the curb lane....I will ride at my own pace....and **** you if you dont like it. Hit me....I can crash roll with the best of em. Insurance rate hikes are a *****.

eyefloater 09-29-06 07:33 AM

I completely road raged out on a guy who pulled that **** a few months back. To the point that I was almost through his window as I yelled at him, then blocked off the intersection yelling some **** about about, "Oh, look - now I'm a pedestrian you ****head! Now you have to wait until I'm done crossing! Do you remember THAT bit about the ****ing traffic laws?" Total fit of rage for both of us and some really good profanity combos. Luckily he didn't get out of the car/gun it and kill me and I didn't drop the bike/break something on his truck.

Ya ... it was silly. I remember some woman giving us a "Those stupid men are going to kill each other in the middle of the street," look. Now I just have hearing lapses and give them the thumbs-up.

Damn....still wont go thru. Prepares forks for plunging in eye-sockets.

Shiznaz 09-29-06 07:37 AM

My crazy taxi driver a few weeks ago got out of his car, came toe to toe with me and yelled "I PUNCH YOU IN THE FACE!!!"

Damn taxi terrorists...

UN Definition of terrorism:
"Terrorism is an anxiety-inspiring method of repeated violent action, employed by (semi-) clandestine individual, group or state actors, for idiosyncratic, criminal or political reasons, whereby — in contrast to assassination — the direct targets of violence are not the main targets. The immediate human victims of violence are generally chosen randomly (targets of opportunity) or selectively (representative or symbolic targets) from a target population, and serve as message generators. Threat- and violence-based communication processes between terrorist (organization), (imperilled) victims, and main targets are used to manipulate the main target (audience(s)), turning it into a target of terror, a target of demands, or a target of attention, depending on whether intimidation, coercion, or propaganda is primarily sought," (Schmid, 1988)."

Taxis sound like terrorists to me...

Okay dude, eff this ess. I just conned Wes into thinking I'm going to burn him some albums. Instead, I'll throw [secret document] on one of the cdrs he's giving me and I'll drop it off for you.

somnambulant 09-29-06 07:43 AM

trafficjammer: that's my strategy too - pedal really slowly while looking back with a huge grin on my face.
cavernmech: well put
eyefloater: nicely done

edit: did someone say my name? I could have sworn someone just said my name. *shrug*

I have a Mac, so I've never used any of these, but this page might be a good place to start: http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/ipod-software-windows

Its a depressing thought, but I honestly have to say, if I didn't have a group like this to commiserate with, I might not be cycling today... Being a 'lone victim' is a hell of a lot worse than being in a community of victims. Its good to know you're all out there fighting the good fight

So who is C.Ming tonite? Should I pack an extra layer for park beers afterwards? Mmmmmmmmm.....beer. Maybe we can rock the Central Tech running track for some impromtu "Urban Keirin"

iherald 09-29-06 08:06 AM

I'm sure this has been asked 10 000 times, but I can't be bothered to go through 531 pages, so I will ask again. I live downtown, I have a mountain bike and a road bike, and I'm thinking of going fixed too (if you have two bikes, why not three?). The problem is I don't want to spend a huge amount of money on it.

I have an old Raleigh 3 speed internal hub bike which is sweet, but I just read that it uses 650cc wheels, and I'd need a new crank, etc etc. I have a nice extra set of wheels that I could use, though I'd need the Surly Fixxer, so I could do a frame build up job...

I've looked at Urbane, and they have a nice frame, but it's pretty expensive. $450 for the frame and fork. Once I start buying the rest I'm getting into the price range of a new one from Specialized or Bianchi.

Any other ideas? Ideally (sorry this is long) I'd like to get a bike that I can either run SS or Fixed, that has brakes, and is 61cm or thereabouts.

David.

I'm in. May or may not make the start point in time though. CT track+beer action sounds fun.
