The Bianchi that someone mentioned at Cyclemania for $295 was the exact same bike that I bought off of CL two weeks ago for $75 but my find was in much better condition. I gave it to a friend, damnit! There was also a very nice Raleigh track bike that he wanted $500 for, not a bad buy and I'm sure you could talk him down a bit.

I rode by there as well today there was a light purple Bianchi sitting out front.
It looked big.
Cheers
There was a nice conversion there as well.

Whoo hoo, thanks for info! Jjust what I need another bike. When does this addiction become a problem? When I cannot get into my apartment for all the bikes/bike parts lying around? If so, I can still squeeze a few more in here

Jammer, thanks for the tickets, think what you will of wakeboarders but they built a more then decent skate park and the girls were fantastic. Plus I'm pretty sure no matter what you did this weekend if it involved being outside it went well.

My youngest daughter now has a new 20 inch wheel SS, with hand brakes(new for her), she's so pleased with how much faster she is. Thank-you Zellers for 40% off.
A little bit a malicious-ness from the punk rock days surfaced Friday. I'm on my way from Yonge to Cavern along a busy lunch time Queen and some guy has gotten up behind me to ride the wheel. No biggie. As we whip along the parked cars' door zone a 'parking enforcement officer', comes strolling from in between parked cars into where we're riding...looking at his ticket pad he's filling out, not a clue as to what's about to happen. I don't deviate from my path whatsoever and he gets the "whifff" of the edge of my bag on his arm as I pass, i hear his girly scream fade behind me. I stop at Jarvis and the other guy comes to a stop beside me, laughin' like a hyena. "Dude, you shoulda seen him jump, he'll NEVER not look again!!!! he snorts". Ain't I a stinker?

Last night I was riding home from dinner at around 10pm on harbord. I was waiting to go west at the lights at spadina and this guy blasts right through the intersection about 5 seconds before the lights change. I usually sprint from spadina to bathurst so this was no exception and as I'm passing the guy I have to kick it up a notch or two to get by and he yells "YOU'RE COOKIN' IT BABY! COOOOKIN' IT!!!" So I give him a friendly little wave, ride onwards and have to pull a huge fishtail skid as I was going way to fast when I got to my sidestreet. More people should ride fast because its fun to chase them around late at night.
In other news, I also broke a second pair of the urbane marinoni laminated toe straps. I'm not even going to bother getting them exchanged this time as it seems that they have a lifespan of about 2-3 weeks. Time to throw the eggbeaters on the commuter. Also I am moving to a new apartment in the bloor and ossington area. My commute will increase from 9km a day to 12 km a day! Amazing! I really have to do more riding on the evenings and weekends to increase my mileage to something respectable.
PS. Wes, Long live me. I'm sorry, I poisoned your wine.

Shizy, it's 12 from Ossington /bloor to financial? You've got some fun commute choices from there, like bombing Spadina. woohoo I hear ya about the late night racing around, it does kick ass with less cars about doesn't it? Whippin' around at night is so much fun. your straps.... laminated what? How about doubled up leather straps?

its 6km from oss/bloor to front/bay (12km return). I'm thinking I will take shaw street all the way down to wellington and then take wellington and niagara east and then turn down onto front street for 'the gauntlet'. I have spent hours staring at a map of downtown and I just can't find a good way to avoid the gauntlet without having to go down Bay street which is just as bad... I guess I could take queen's quay blvd but it would add another kilometer to my route. How is queen's quay during morning and afternoon rush-hour? (barring this week's special events)
laminated means a strip of strong nylon glued between 2 strips of strong leather. Mine had the necessary compnents to be called laminated, but lacked their strength unfortunately. Now the nylon part is broken completely and unbonded so I have 3 floppy straps keeping my feet on the pedals.

It could have just been the pedals cutting into the strap, but the fact is that they delaminated almost completely a while before they broke, so I think it is most likely the fault of the straps, not the pedals. I think they have probably been sitting in a box for a couple of decades so theres a chance the glue they use could have decayed because you could pretty much pry apart the layers with your fingernails if you tried.

Ripping them open doesn't sounds well laminated at all. However due to the stresses straps will take laminated really doesn't sound like the way to go. Have you tried all leather ones? I'd do Bloor to Spadina, rip Spadina a new one all the way down (a personal fav) to Front and then you have a bumpy little jaunt over to Bay. Or left off Spadina at Adelaide to Bay, also pretty bumpy, but not as bad as Front I don't think.

Yeah... I bought mine from Keith @ Cavern. He told me to treat the leather with some leather conditioner/mink oil.
Hopefully that'll make them last...

Shiz you should try ossington to harbord to st. george which turns into beverly south of college and then down john to front and then over. I did the same ride every day/night for 6 years when I was a desk jockey at the mother corp at front and john. Its a great ride you can haul arse and there are bike lanes/few cars for 90% of it.
I'm totally down with a wednesday ride, we should also figure out a way to get back out to Forest City...I dream about forest city....
