Sometimes the police have to do a sting to put criminals behind bars. You're not going to stop the bad drivers unless they are drawn out. Imagine how sweet being an under-cover bike cop would be. Full impunity to traffic rules and if anyone drives around you dangerously you sprint after them, slap your badge on their window and throw the book at them. Consider it the same as prostitution stings but with bikes and bad drivers.
i want the job of highspeed pursuit bike cop. just waiting for a sprint. the city equivalent of the corvette pursuit highway patrol type deely. |

Such as this: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...88&q=bmw+chase ^ I think that's safe for work Note: Some say this vid is fake, those roads sure look like something in Ontario. |

I posted a somewhat buried link to this a while back, but I don't know if anyone bothered to watch.. I like it though, well done. Plus the current talk of riding through traffic and cops reminded me of it:

Hey if any of you week-end racers are still about, have a great time!!!!!

about the yonge street fallacy: i grew up with that "fact" constantly pounded into my head in elementary school.
about spending money on bike parts: there's a guy on craiglist who used to race in toronto and europe (mid 80s early 90s) and he's getting rid of all his road-related crap. marriage, a baby, and medical school will tend to do that. anyhoo, he's got a lot of stuff which has probably been picked through. a got campy cranks, brakesets, seatpost, BBs, cinelli stems, another stronglight headset, mavic open 4cd clinchers/mavic hubs with conti tires.. what the hell am i going to do with a dura-ace freewheel....he even threw in some old campy wool jerseys FO CHEAP. nice guy, chatty.. his parents basically don't want any of his junk in their house and he's liquiding. the stuff's well taken care of.. he wrenches as well as races.. and almost everything is mid 80s campy/dura-ace. if anyone needs anything email him cliffhoo@yahoo.com |

Single Speed's at Stores?
This thread seems to be mostly about fixed, but I'm more interested in a single speed (I have an artificial leg, and can't always pedal). I didn't want to clutter the whole board, so I thought since I live downtown Toronto, I'd post here.
Does anyone know stores that sell single speed bikes? I likely could make my own, but I know that I won't. Most stores I've been into don't sell anything single speed, but I am likely going to the wrong stores, since I randomly go to different stores. if anyone could help I'd appreciate it. I'm actually in Quebec City after riding my geared bike from Vancouver and heading to Halifax, but this gives me something to think about while riding every day (http://www.cyclingforcancer.ca) |
