I think I've spoken with that girl. She was admiring my Concorde at last year's MEC Swap Meet and we started talking and I mentioned that I had a Ciocc and she said she had one too and she mentioned that it was blue. I didn't get her name but she was pretty cute and if I hadn't been in a relationship at the time, I would have asked to get a coffee with me.

She was on a Benotto, a champagne one, maybe it looked olive in the dark? It was fixed and had a Brooks saddle on it, so it is probably her. Wish I could be more helpful but I am not in a relationship anymore so I am also on the hunt for a cute girl who rides ;)

It is, actually, I'd just need a to buy a bottle, likely. I have a half litre of Glenmorangie Cellar 13 that I could bring, I just don't know how much would be left at the end of the night. It's not easy to find, but I've never been a big fan of bourbon casking so I wouldn't mind seeing it go, really. My a'bunadh is staying at home :D

Operator, who needs jagermeister when you have tights and almond thighs? Just stand around checking your cog and wait for it to happen. Not that the girl would have to do any less than a flying scissorlock on your head to get you to notice!

I used to see this tallish girl all the time along Humbard on a blue ss or fixed, I would allway's be at the bike joint talking to Derik and she would ride by and wave,, but my FAV is this Wild looking red headed messenger girl that always pass's me on the other side of the road no matter where I'd be in the city , she gives me this huge smile each time.

Winter group ride anyone? Not now, but real winter, when it gets snowy. We can all ride our beaters, and drink beer.

Coffee is fine I'm sure. You'll be the only one that doesn't freeze your your ass off.

Page number 666 is coming. It is the 7th sign.

Sirrobinofcoxly 12-11-06 08:52 AM

I've designed a ride poster for it already *nerd*. I'll release it closer to a snowy day.

Hey Robin, you're not the only one with a black SS rigid MTB for 350 dollars now!

I went to the sweet pete's sale yesterday and bought a kona smoke for 350 which they are single-ating for me and switching the tires on. Our bikes should be extremely similar except mine is steel and a little more commuting oriented. It should be ready on wednesday so we should hit up some trails.

350 dollars for a new quality steel bike spec'ed to my liking is pretty crazy... didn't even have to get my hands dirty!

edit: all I need to complete it is switch the triple to a single crank. Anyone have a spare mtb crank (single double or otherwise)? The one that came on the smoke has the rings riveted to the spider.

Illy? dude.. c'mon, you can do better than that. :)

Also: I'm obviously up for the scotch tasting. My place is still available as a venue. I don't know from Scotch, so I'll have to get some advice as to what to buy.

Also x 2: Snow ride sounds great.

cavernmech 12-11-06 09:00 AM

Snow and beer ride sounds great to me...count me in. Also ready for the Scotch tasting. It might be a better idea to do this at someones house (Wes?) as most of the establishments I frequent frown upon bringing yer own booze with ya. Perhaps not putting a $ range on it might be good for those not swimming in $..that would be me. As long as its a single malt its all good? I have 2 decent bottles already so I would be willing to sponsor a fellow Canadian who's down on his luck and might not be able to afford such extravagance. 29th sounds good to me.

STEEKER 12-11-06 09:48 AM

I normaly only have one pint so I can ring a couple of cans to cover a fellow rider whom's short ,,, so far we have Cavernmech Jerremy and myself doing the Kilt snow ride, anyone else joining up???

I never agreed to wear a kilt....doesnt seem to be the best snow riding apparel. And please...no comments about how yer thong will keep you warm.

must...find...her
(I swear I'm not desperate, but I've only seen two hot girls on bikes before, and this was one of them. The other is this uber-successful triathalete blondie who rides a red/black Cervelo Soloist, whom I see at the races occasionaly. She can hold her own, that's for sure. And it's nice to see her accelerate out of corners- very toned body. Mmm.

Nice bike. What ratio are you using/plan to use? No spare crank here, my spare is the same kind. I just cut off the outer ring and popped the inner one off to make a single.

What kind of tensioner are you getting? The surly is nice, better than the one I used. I prefer the halflink myself (I like the look better), although it makes switching cogs harder, tensioner is much better for this purpose. Other thing is to check the chain/cog/chainring combo. Ramped cogs from a cassette with a deraileur chain and ramped chainring makes for a jumpy chain, even with the tensioner. Misfitpyscles makes s/s cogs for $5. Awesome cog for the price.
