It's too bad that students really only consider their personal utility when it comes to paying levies. While some were absurd (the original plan to steal like $40 from every student for the original plan for Varsity Stadium), Bikechain is the best thing UofT's Sustainability office has done, well, ever. Now it needs to work on indoor/secure parking for bikes (aside from the Innis garage) to really encourage more students to ride. If students don't want to cough up a measly quarter - ESPECIALLY at UofT - then all hope is lost. I would imagine that it will fail because of typical lack of student participation and because students are cheap, cheap bastards.
Can I, as a recent grad, vote? I still have my student card and all and I wouldn't imagine that they'll check the status of everyone who votes. |

If university cost as much in Ontario as it does in Quebec I'd give you 4 dollars. But that's not the case, the reality is working 40 hours a week at a high-paying union job got me through the university I attended. Its simply a matter of UofT and/or SAC making it a priority instead of shoving yet another expense onto students who are shouldering more and more financial burden for less and less academic and cultural return.

It's a shame when democracy doesn't work to your advantage.
No one asks me if I want my taxes going to welfare or the homeless. At least the U of T students are getting the option of voting down a levy that they do not want and in most cases does not benefit from. |

And yeah, that first listing was already flagged. |
bad news: i got a flat on the way home and didn't want to waste a cartridge so i hoofed it.
good news: came across a few boxes of books en route book topics (no particular order) of what i brought home: a play in french "a compodium on whole foods" comic sociology biology general philosophy x3 black history/power laws of natural science recycling handbook technology and agriculture info about alcohol elements of style (language theory) economics and a mother goose treasury (un-dated with coloured prints and a pencil illustration on the back page) wow. i'd like to meet this person! |
They're probably dead....

Saw '300' last night. Esthetically amazing. As far as the script, and the ridiculousness of the narrative, I wonder if the graphic novel sucked in the same way.
|
Frank Miller did it no? I doubt it sucked then, he's amazing.

I still recommend that people see '300'. For all the complaining I do, I still really enjoyed it. |

----- So, I nearly got the crap beaten outta me this morning for tapping on some guys trunk. I was riding along in the bike lane on Harbord and dude cuts me off and jams on the brakes at the corner. I skid into a track stand (that's right) and then he starts rolling again, so I give him a little tap-tap (not too hard) as I start pedaling. Slams on the brakes again, opens his door and starts unbuckling. He starts yelling at me, I tell him he cut me off, he gets out and grabs for me and (thankfully had one foot still clipped in and in the "sweet spot") I make a few quick pedal strokes to about 25' away. Thank goodness for fat people... he took a few steps and gave up. Kept calling me a cun7 and telling me to get back there for "hitting his car". I wonder if Derrick heard any of it since it was just there by The Bike Joint. I swore once before that from now on I take the zen approach. I repeat that sentiment. I'm sorry I strayed off track. Also: when I left the house I had a flat tire. Can I just go home, go back to sleep and start again tomorrow? |
To whom it may concern:
Please excuse *insert name here* from participating in the rat race today, as he's already raced a rat this morning on the way in to whatever soul sucking activity he was scheduled to engage in. The psyche has been bruised and he needs a little down time in front of some form of electronic tranquilizer. Possibly a big fatty batty as well. <--*whatever that means* Signed Epstein's Mother Wes....*sigh* Glad he didn't git you in his belly, imagine the nerve of you telling him he cut you off. One day...one day a motorist is gonna pop out from his cockpit, ready to kill and be looking at a squad car sitting behind the cyclist.... having witnessed everything. |
