While lovingly polishing my new frame with turtle wax this evening I realized that I should be cramming for a midterm exam. I waited for the wax to dry, wiped it off, and applied another coat.

aren't you in art school or something? exams... pshaw! :P
Also, I couldn't get my chainring bolts to budge at all, even though the ring is wobbly on the crank. What's up with that? I managed to bloody my finger trying to get the bolts to turn also.. mmm.. grease 'n blood. |
Shiznaz is a urban planning geek, I bet there's some studying invovled with that. I'm debating whether to minor in GIS but not sure how well that'll fit with my specialist software eng. program.
Time for a non replaceable chainring crankset :D (I.E the cheap ones). ahaha. |

I think you need to add some washers on the other side of the crank, provided you can get your CR bolts loose. I usually cut up an old worn out chainring for the custom fit. This keeps the CR bolts from coming loose. |
That's what I was thinking. I couldn't get them to loosen though either, unfortunately. But, all I have to use are little allen keys, which obviously doesn't give me much leverage. I have a metric allen bit set, but I don't have a ratchet (sp) or anything with leverage to use them in. I bought them so I could assemble things from Ikea with my power drill. ;)

In case anyone is interested in this sort of thing (*cough*shiznaz*cough*):

Spray some WD-40 in & around them let it soak in,you have the same crank as mine I'm sure they are removable.I picked up a metal pipe from the hardware store to use for leverage.

Is yours the crank that Urbane sells with the 110mm BCD? If so, I have the same one, and the CR bolts that come with it are really poor quality. I swapped them out for another set, but I can imagine running them in salt will make them difficult to remove. Pennetrating oil will help a bit. Also, if you have a pair of vice grip pliers, you can usually grab the chainring and spider in such a way that it puts the chainring bolt in shear. Often, this will give you enough torque to break the bolts loose.

grease 'em when putting it back together though

I'm down w/ the meet-up at Moonbeam > bike show plan.
|
what time at moonbeam? the show opens at 10am. I don't think it's necessary to be there too early though since it starts on Friday... it's not like we're rushing down to get first pick at the goods.. y'know? :) especially if anyone plans on trying to get some mad deals before closing at 6pm. I enjoyed watching the Metro Jam last year though, so I plan on spending some time doing that as well.

13$?! Can we get a coupon up in this piece, son?
