If anybody wants to work as a 'traveling course marshal' for the Tour de Georgia, drop me a line ASAP and I'll put you in touch with the proper people. It's from April 16-22, you'll have to arrive a day early, and you'll probably want to leave the day after (ie. wrap-up party!), and all your expenses are covered (hotels, food, transportation, Tour clothes) except for airfare. I was supposed to go, but I can't afford the plane ticket, so if anybody wants my place, let me know. It's definately a ton of fun, and the coolest way to see a pro bike race.

Keith, still have any of the clipin pedels left?

There were some beautiful and ridiculously cheap large road bikes on CL this past weekend. Having too many bikes is annoying...

I-herald...pair of lefts put aside for you.
Bonus...free toe-clips and nylon straps for everybody!

I can't find that one. Nice site though. lots of expensive bikes (that are at least in the ballpark), unlike the CL where the rusty supercycle is 'offered' at $300

I don't know if I can make it today, or this week at all, but can you hold a pair (or 2) for me? How late are you open?

Sweet! Thanks!! I will likely be in tomorrow (since I'll bring those old brakes back!)

2 pairs of Eggbeaters....mint...mounted but not ridden. $60 per. No cleats.

Having more bikes isn't going to help with this and I'd have to end up getting rid of them anyhow. Right now I have a superfluous track bike and bmx. I'm really just waiting for that late 80's pinarello with all campy, cinelli and modolo... Great deals come and go but its never for quite what I am looking for...

hey my boss just called me in to a conference room and told me he heard rumours I'm leaving the Bank. He was right, but it felt weird him bringing it up rather than me... oh well.

the MXC / C (ie. bottom end) ones, I presume

Well they both have wrench flats which the mxr's dont have...at least in my catalogue. The flats are a bit chewed from some meathead taking them off new bikes but they are at least chromes I think.

Shiznaz 04-04-07 03:22 PM

I'm currently debating whether I should tour on my SS eggbeaters, my look keos or some new pedals.

I will need new shoes regardless as my mountain commuting shoes are pretty much shot, and my sidis would be very impractical for anything off the bike. Ideally I'd like some three strap mountain style recessed cleat shoes that are compatible with look cleats, but there only seems to be one of those available (Lake CX-120 or 125). They are only available online afaik so sizing would be a serious issue.

I could buy regular mountain shoes and use my eggbeaters but I'm not sure how much I'd trust them for 1000's of kilometers as they are a bit squirmy and have been destroying my current shoes.

Cam, can you provide some insight into clipless sandals and what sort of sock/bootie combinations you use? walkability? The shimano sandals look pretty nice and are reccomended over in the touring forum.

somnambulant 04-04-07 03:58 PM

crazy idea: bring some flipflops and use the sidis?

Shiznaz 04-04-07 04:01 PM

I've thought about that but my sidis are a smidge small (d'oh) and I plan to hop on and off the bike fairly often so I'd like *some* walking ability without needing to change shoes all the time.

Did anyone lose a blue Planet Bike led light at the safety last week? If so I have it.

Mine of course. I mentioned it earlier, but it was missed I see. I'll swing by tomorrow and grab it and the pedals. Thanks.

HA no worries dude it is a funny picture. Actually I've been trying to figure out what the hell is happening in that picture to no avail...

edit: Check out the yellow barrier in the background of that picture. It says "Safety Pays". Sweet!
