A lot of things are sold out at Cadence... those Sail-Cloth hats... wow.

Shiznaz 05-04-07 12:32 PM

Oh yeah, is there a safety meeting tonight? I discovered I had some safety literature in my bag at work this morning so I'm all set.

I just emailed Dustin to tell him to put it on youtube so it's bigger than a postage stamp. :)

I emailed him a while back with some questions about an order and he never got back to me. Their stuff is really nice though...

Really? He's always been pretty prompt with me, although he bungled my last order (hence why I have an "upgraded" version of that sail cloth hat). Last time I chatted with him through email he said he was ridiculously busy. I say just drop him another line.

Does anyone know who I could get in touch with at city hall about replacing a street drain cover? There's one at Dovercourt & Dewson that has tried to swallow my bike whole many times and usually forces me to go around the stopped cars on the left in order to make a right turn. It's not the "chevron" style diagonal grate, but the old style where they're all parallel. My wheels fit in there perfectly. There's another on Ossington @ College.

I assume Dept of Works, but maybe my councilor could help as well.. especially since it's "mr cycling" Adam Giambrone.

Of course, I'm not sure this will be high on the priority list, but it's worth trying. :)

Good one. Done and doner. :)

I noticed one of those last weekend, but I forget exactly where... I think it was in the beaches area. I was playing with my bike while standing over it during a conversation and idly stuck the tire in the grate while fiddling around and then all of a sudden I realized that it was the evil wheel eater style ones. Sometimes I get afraid I'm going to taco my wheel track standing near the diagonal ones because my front wheel tends to be at about that angle.

Anyways, any news on safety meeting? Otherwise I've got some shopping to do.

Yeah, I hear you on the trackstand wheel eater. 45 degree opening meets 45 degree front wheel. My rear wheel totally went into one of the old-school ones bombing along King St W last year. I'm still surprised it didn't do any damage because it *sounded* brutal.

I'll be swinging by Cavern. I do every week right after work. Then again I'm usually out of there again by 7:00, so it depends on how late you expect it to go.

Find out who the city counselor is for the area and call their office. Don't worry about talking to the councilor, just talk to someone on their staff. Most of the time the staff are super nice and can get a lot of issues solved pretty quickly. I've had graffiti, burned out street lights, vandals, etc. all addressed by counselor staff.

I'll probably leave a little early today as all my bosses just left and my evil coworker got in later than me today (maybe the first time ever?), so I'll be at cavern around 6pm.

I wonder how these are... the price is right, but they seem like they might be total crap for some reason.

cavit8 05-04-07 02:25 PM

There's a few reviews of Exus(=exustar) up on mountain bike reviews (www.mtbr.com) but none for that specific model. I like my Sidi bullets with the following caveat - very slippery. I'd hate to do much on rocky surfaces in these things. They use plastic rather than rubber grips and it shows. Otherwise, I like them a lot. The other shoes I've had (which Pyze now has) are Axo vipers. Not an easily available shoe, but lasted forever. The only downside with these is the plate is inaccessible from inside the shoe so you couldn't replace it if it stripped.

the older shimanos get my vote for durability. i think that title has been exclipsed by specialized, great value in shoes.

There was a thread in the roadie forum bashing teh specialized gear over the sidis not too long ago. Their conclusion was that specialized ftl.

Random question: anyone know where I could find a hot gun bluer in toronto?

of course they would bash anything of good value; it's not the most expensive. the roadie crowd can be very much like a flock of sheep...
