I've never had any real problems with any of my Macs. That said, I haven't really had any problems with my XP box at work (other than nothing makes sense and I have to do 8 steps to do something easy)

If you talk to anyone who bought/used one this past weekend, try and find out how much they were selling for (and which system they were using.. 1/2/3). |

Keith don;t fret too too much about the Imac man, with all the popularity I sure there are bound to be the occasional issues with a couple. I think you got some possible i/o issues connected to the USB chain. I can bring you another usb mouse if you'd like OR just take that puppy back for a replacement unit..... call ahead to make sure this can be done hassle free to save you blowing your, or someone else's, brains out at the store. I've got 40 of those bad boys out on the floor and not a single issue like yours in the bunch of 'em. I checked this morning and they are indeed running the default mouse KB setup as well. You may be being punished for not keeping up the the Kashmeri's...just a thought.

nerdsgirth: someone on your team turned in a 48-minute lap (in lap 8)? Nicely done! Your avg was 59:50, ours was 1:13:37. :P
I did a 1:03:07 and a 1:09:35 (including a couple minutes to strip off some layers and disconnect my light part way through). cavernmech: looks like they actually subtracted your sleep time when you did a lap right after me. Someone else did our last lap, right? Who was that? http://www.chicoracing.com/html/inde...rticle&sid=185 |

After roughly 5 hours of use discs won't eject and the browser was doing all kinds of weird things. T.J. the Mac master came by last night to help remedy these problems. After an hour or so of tinkering and messing about with it all seemed fine. Of course 30 minutes after T.J. left the &%$*#$%* thing crashed on me AGAIN with the screen going completely blank. I either got a lemon, am absolutely terrible with anything computer like or just have bad luck. Back to the store with it today. Is it too much to ask that a brand new $2000 Mac operates the way it should? Where did you buy it from? |

So we run XP for shipping and game playing, OSX for everything else = virii free computing.
whatever you do, be sure to ditch that one button mouse with the grippy side buttons, as a former PC lifer person I have never been able to come to terms with mac mice and trying to use them deteriorates a bodies quality of life. I need 2-3 buttons and a wheel, sure it ain't as pretty but it works. Make the imac work and you'll be better off for it, comparably it is hassle free computating, and prettier, quieter et al You do need, however, at least 2GB of RAM, to run both OS'es comfortably. YMMV |

I just realized that Ronin's sig gif has the NBC logo in the corner. I guess that must have been a blooper show as I doubt they were showing track racing. :)

So Mindy took the I-mac back to the store and got a condescending "well it is used now" comment when she asked to return it. They will not replace it. They will do their "tests" and try to figure out the problem but other than that if we want them to take it back we have to pay 20% restock fee. I am officially PISSED!!
Ready to go all Bruce Banner on their asses! |
Carbon computing? And they call themselves an authorized reseller? Apples RMA and warranty service is supposed to be very good - or so my friend says - he works at an RMA facility.

Ready to go all Bruce Banner on their asses! That said, ultimately, they'll likely try to fix it. And although it sucks, it's reasonable for them to do that. |

guys I don't think this is reasonable at all..... if it's a ram issue they should have looked at it immediately!!!
This couple hasn't enjoyed their purchase. The box doesn't work, it's not we've been using it for a few weeks .... it flat out never has worked like it should. New box time...you figure this one out. If some sales rep told me I have to wait potentially upto a month while they out my warranty trying to figure out what's wrong with a box a that has NEVER worked correctly for ANY extended period of time..I'd lose my mind. |

It's not to say that we all wouldn't like Keith to have a new iMac; merely that I can understand why it might not happen. |
I totally get what your sayin' from a supply chain perspective, but as MACS get bigger in popularity and they make more and more of them, these issues are going to increase. If they want to take market share from WINDOWS, they need to stop acting like every piece of hardware could bankrupt the company or retailer. The customer is King, not the iMac.

But, I think we all agree that we hope Keith gets the issue resolved so there are two more satisfied mac users out there. |
 true enough... I just hope Keith isn't dangling someone six inches off the ground.
