Oh boy, this email really made my day. I can't believe it. I'll bet this branch is a future closure as its obvious they don't have nearly enough business to keep themselves occupied:
Good Morning;

I am writing to you to express some concerns that our branch has regarding our janitors. Some of the staff have candies on their desk for their clients and for several weeks we have suspected that the janitors have been helping themselves to these treats. Although this is a minor thing we feel it is inappropriate, so much so that we have started locking up the candy dishes.

In addition to this, this past weekend our janitors took it upon themselves to remove posters (hockey)from the walls of two of our staff members offices. Also, on Friday we had served cake to our customers and had left the remaining cake covered in our lunch room to serve to our Saturday clients however, when the Saturday staff arrived they reported that a large piece of the cake was missing.

Although these things may not seem important we feel that we should not have to lock our items up and in addition we feel that it is not up to the janitorial staff to take it upon themselves to remove items from walls and/or desks.

I have contacted Area Manager to express our concerns. He has stated that he will investigate, however, he did not seem overly concerned. In fact, he insinuated that it might be someone else (abm servicing staff)but he was informed that we do not have third party service.

Although these instances may seem small, we feel that they require immediate attention and must be resolved.

Should you have any further questions please feel free to contact me directly.

Thank you in advance for your attention to this matter.

Best regards,

name omitted

Thank you for your business. Have an Excellent day!
edit: fisso, totally depends on the geometry. If its a track frame its probably normal. I have toe overlap on some bikes but not on others, regardless of fit.

Initial thoughts are that it's too small. But, what do I know?

Fisso: yeah, it's referred to as "toe-overlap". Some bikes are worse than others. It's not so much a problem with frame size as it is with geometry (and crank-length / shoe-size of course). My geared road bike has more toe-overlap than my fixie, personally.

also: good on Basso. At least someone had the dingalings to fess up.

Track frames are usually worse than roadie frames in terms of toe overlap.

Edit: Haha basso

If anyone is interested in doing a fun charity ride this summer, I'm doing the Tour for Kids. You can do either a 4 or 2 day ride, and either 100km or 200km a day. 800km over four days! Fun!

So a neighbor of mine just stopped by the shop. He had a bunch of old bike stuff for me. Came back with a vintage truing stand (very sweet), an 8sp 52 Dura-Ace ring, 2 Dura-Ace brake calipers, a pair of vintage Campy track quill pedals and 2 pairs of vintage Campy Pista cranks 170mm and 167.5mm...one with a 151 50t chainring. "Give me $50 if thats o.k. with you" SOLD!!
That is all.

Small frames and "Sprint" geometry frames almost always have toe overlap. Larger frames and "Pursuit" geometry often dont. Most of the time it doesn't matter as you only turn the wheel that sharply when you are going slowly.

I wish I could take credit for that. However, it was totally Toby's idea. He passed them out like scout badges. I like bikes way better than scouts. Fitting that it's a floppy though since I'm a professional nerd.

Man that was a crazy fun day. I have the greatest tan lines thanks to the huge vents on my helmet. I'll snap a pic if my cam/phone will cooperate. I took some great pics on the island as well but I think the ol' celly's had it with my dropping onto hard surfaces at great speeds/heights and the images didn't transfer. Oh well. I call a mulligan!

My last two posts have been comments on things pages back. I know I've been negligent. I'll do better everyone, I swear.

Any word on any sweet cranks for this guy?

As to that letter: just reading it gave me the rage. I couldn't work with someone who cares deeply enough about candy to write a letter like that...I'd have to drop him/her in the lake.

As to the toe overlap: Yes. Toe overlap on both my road bike and my fixed gear. Not a problem if I'm going faster than about 5 mph. So, not a problem.

Oh man Charlie that sucks about your PIN getting stolen. (Wait I mean your PIN NUMBER. LOL that was redundantly redundant. I guess would make me RedunDAN.) It really really pisses me off that people can openly sell the gear to do this to people under the auspices of some legitimate and non-sketchy use for said devices. And that candy thing is beyond ridiculous. Let the janitor have a candy for crap sake. It's not like he/she doesn't work his/her ass off there every day (ok that was an assumption but I think you get my drift...) It is exactly like what you were saying yesterday, Charlie, about "strongly worded" letters.

This was the awesomest weekend ever. Floppy disk wheels FTW (I have one too).

Wes when you and Keith rode off into the sunset a little part of me died. No actually we stuck around for a while longer and took the ferry from the east end (can't remember the name of that island for some reason.)

I felt like writing a strongly worded letter. Here we go:

Dear Staff,

The term "floppy" is now considered objectionable. We here at management feel that the term "flacid" would be preferable. Please take this into consideration in future office conversation and when filling out TPS reports. Thankyou for your time and consideration.

Sincerely your boss

We boarded the Ward's Island open ferry. You were jonesing over that girl who fit your criteria as the 'it' girl for you...

Yum, the Ethiopian cuisine was delish... Definitely gonna have to hit up that joint again.

We gotta gorge on all-you-eat, meat-induced-coma Korean Grill House next outing.

Yeah Nazareth was amazing (!) and managing to not be forced into talking with ex's younger sister was a nice bonus as well.

Got a question.

I'm fairly new to riding in Toronto and am coming back from a hernia, 8 months off my bike, and hernia surgery. 48x16 wasn't so bad when I lived in Madison, WI and was in great shape...however, I've caught on to the fact that north is uphill here, and that I'm now shockingly feeble.

I want to drop from 48T to 42T. I've worked on my road bike lots. Haven't worked on my fixed gear so much. Any tips on how to shorten the chain and generally make this thing work without ******** anything up too badly? Any replies, messages, or pointers toward other threads w/be greatly appreciated.

If you have a frame with horizontal or semi horizontal dropouts, all it takes is swapping the chain ring, and removing an appropriate amount of links with a chain breaker. If you haven't done this before, either buy a chain breaker and be prepared to screw up a few times, or bring it into a shop and they will do it in roughly 20 seconds for you.

Okay, I feel dumb. That sounds incredibly simple. I have the tools from when I installed a powerlink on my road bike.

Thanks for the info

yeah a power link basically makes it idiot proof. Its the reinstalling of chain pins that can be messed up by shearing the pins, bending the plates, or over/under inserting the pins.
