Wussed out on my imperial century due to getting in at 2am drunk last night. Decided to cut the journey short a few hours and went to do a loop out to Waterdown and back.
Took Queensway west to Dixie Road north to Dundas/Highway 5 west to Mill St (Waterdown Rd) south to North shore (at the park) then west to around Beach Rd. and hung out at the beach for a bit.
Came home along Lakeshore/Southdown/Lakeshore. Clocked in at around 116km, kinda bummed but feel nicely burned nonetheless.

I was heading east on danforth and passsed a GANG of fixed gear bikes heading west, sweet looking bikes .

Yeah I got a flat in Burlington. Had stopped for the ride safety meeting and it just spontaneously gave out. *shrug* nothing in the tyre, the spare tube inflated OK, so I dunno what happened.

Steeker, what kind of time? Might've been the TOFIXD guys from that forum - they were heading over to the Bluffs today 2pm at Yonge/Dundas.
Always cool to see other riders around, I shared drafting with one guy and pulled a another when I was on Highway 5 - cyclists are few and far between and it was nice to have some "company" of sorts to chit-chat with at lights (wind was hell so I was just trying to keep at it when on the move).

Just for fun, in the last 20sec of an Ebay auction for a Stratos NJS frameset, I placed a bid and ended up winning. I didn't really expect to win, so now my wife's not overly thrilled. I'll have to just place it in a corner until later this season before I can build it. I couldn't resist, as it was priced below what I've seen those listed for elsewhere.

Did anyone take in the free dj session in High Park today? It was on the cherry tree hill and there must have been at least 5000 people there and almost as many bikes. It was really nice because the weather was so great and the cherry blossoms are beautiful when they are in full bloom----and the music was pretty great too. Fun.

Guess who got a 7 speed Regina freewheel from Urbane? NOS is so, so sweet.
Just so I don't run into these problems again, does anyone out there have an old 106/600/Ultegra rear hub? I don't even need the FH body, just the axle and shell.

UGH, i have a hub that im using,
HOWEVER, I have a contact that unloads quite a few 80;s bikes on craigslist and we were supposed to meet up this weekend for a wheelset. he said that older stuff like what ur looking for should be $20/wheelset.
he is in north york and i can do the legwork for you, no probs.
will that regina freewheel work with a uniglide hub tho?

anyways, my miele project is going OKAY.. but i couldn't remove the drive side bottom bracket cap thing. i tried to hacksaw it down to size for my pipe wrench (the cap is like 3 mm too wide), but my saw didn't even scratch it. its like some hardened alloy or something.. I'll have to find:
1. bigger pipe wrench
or
2. bigger saw
on another note, the wheelset I located has some suntour free wheel mounted on it. I found some site that said these can be disassembled. The thing is that these freewheels have the 2 of the smallest cogs threaded, to lock onto the freewheel.
SOOOO what I am thinking is to remove all the cogs and then leave the 2 smallest cogs on it.. should be a 16t + 14t.
Now, add this to the Miele frame that has horozontal dropouts......
I am asking this:
Has anyone built up a single speed using rear horozontal dropouts and a 2 speed rear freewheel? I was hoping that by having the wheel forward in the dropout could let me use the larger gear and kicking back in the dropout would let me use the smaller gear!!!
it would be like a dual-single-speed!!!!

I would almost certainly buy an HG-70 hyperglide cassette if I switched to a freehub. This Regina is built like a tank. The thing must weigh almost 2lb alone!!
What you're describing with the two freewheel cogs exists. White Industries makes something called the "Dos" which is essentially an expensive version of what you want.
Pretty sure there's no harm in wedging a 130mm wheel into my 126 frame. I've done it before with a crappier bike. Chain clearance depends a lot on the frame being used.

It wasn't meant to be. I was going to convert my singlespeed to a 1x8 tonight but ended up missing the bold to attach the derailleur onto the hanger. Guess I'm riding it singlespeed again tomorrow! Oh well, I'll get it sorted later on this week.
