New to road biking, is this bike good for me?
Hey all, decided to take on road biking.
I'm 6'0 and weigh roughly 180lbs. Found a bike that looks decent and was wondering if it will be good as a first and more importantly is the price good. We agreed on $700 without the shoes/pedals.

Cheers.

Scott's geometry chart puts 6' as at the edge of the range for the the XL (58cm) model. You want a Large.

I think $575 US is a lot to pay for that bike, especially without pedals. I don't know the valuation of bikes where you live but I sold a better aluminum bike in 56cm (popular size) not long ago for about $400. Take the Scott name off it and it is a generic aluminum frame/carbon fork road bike with a modest 9-speed group. Bike Nashbar sells a similar bike new for $600 US. Nashbar AL-1 Road Bike
Edited to add: I realize, now, that the nashbar bike isn't available in your size, or mine for that matter, but I really didn't mean to suggest you buy it. It was mostly an illustration of what sort of value was available for your budget. I think you have a healthy budget and should shop around.
If you're returning to the sport, you may notice a lot of "group creep". Shimano Sora, once derided by most, is now a competent 9-speed group with double front and triple front ring options available. It is about where Tiagra was when your Scott seller bought his bike. Shimano Tiagra is now a good 10-speed group and so forth.
