Which bike?
Hi, I am going to buy either Giant escape2 or Giant defy 5. I like fast speed, but should I really get Defy 5 by paying more than $200 for just a little speed difference? I know road bike is faster. My town has lots of hills. To buy defy 5, I need to wait for few more months to get all the money. Should I still get road? I like to ride fast.

$200 will seem like a small amount when you're riding the Escape and wish you bought the Defy. My advice is to wait until you're 100% sure of which bike will suit you better. Maybe think about exactly what your cycling goals are for the next year and what type of bike fits to help you reach them? Will the bike be bought just for recreation to ride fast or will it double as a commuter?

These offer two different riding experiences. What do you want to do? Have you test ridden both? If you intend on spending a lot of time riding, have you determined which style is most comfortable for you? Do you intend to carry items on a rack, in bags, as you use your bike for errands or commuting? Or is it simply a "go fast" recreational thing?

(Just curious, as there is someone on another bike forum posting with the exact same name as the OP. That poster was looking for info on a new bike, but they said they bought a bike over the weekend.)

If you want to ride the roads, and want to do so efficiently and quickly...the Defy. It's not just about going faster....it's about going faster and further with less effort; and about the way road bikes handle- i.e. sports car, or a brick. (Remember, you're the motor!)
