I'm just curious which groupset is the lightest?

When you take the time to actually fill out the Competitive Cyclist calculator with equivalent parts (ie the same front derailleur at 31.8)
it ends up like this DA 2180g and $1574 Record 2185g and $1444 Why anyone would pay an extra $130 for DA is beyond me. |

Yes, and weight weenies is also populated by a lot of wishful thinking and inaccurate scales. I know, I'm a big contributor to that site, being a nutcase that measures everything. Not that I am suggesting that the MFGRs are accurate however.
Surprising to me is the fact that the numbers you posted are actually less than what the CC calculator has. I have never encountered a single item, Campy or Shimano, that weighed less than the MFGRs published weight. |
Now for the hard part: figure out which is lighter with downtube shifters.

I just did it again (this time on CC.com) I got 2180 D-ace and 2046 Record. (I used the carbon crank though, which adds like $400, but it is Record stuff so it should be included right?) |

Ah - so the chain was the diff.
I too looked at it with both the CF and alloy cranks, but apples to apples though, alloy both, and the diff is only 5g. Still boggles my mind that DA in that configuration costs more. What's even more obscene is Chorus vs. Ultegra - $1069 vs $1019 and 2395g vs. 2576g. 200g for $50, not to mention the details of Chorus. Never thought I see the day when Shimano got so proud as to compare Ultegra to Chorus. :D |

More interesting is whose derailleurs,shifters, chain, cassette weigh less.
If you are a true weight weenie you won't be using factory cranks ,hubs, brake calipers . You'll be using aftermarket parts for those things. |
