Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Isn't it time for them to shuffle the letters around again?

I like the sound of "enoma D"

It was clear that a change was coming for the madone when they released the emonda.
If they used any of the ride characteristics from the emonda in the new madone, should be another hot seller!

Demona (Gargoyles, Anyone?)
Medona
Nemoda
Manedo

There's a lot of bikes there. I wonder if they chose these letters with that in mind originally.

I guess it helps explain the illustration on their website of the random "feature" my new bike came with ("blendr" stem).

The "blendr" stem looks nothing like the random drawing the website shows, yet this picture looks just like the thing (stem/handlebar/ufo) on the front end of the new Madone.

So you're not supposed to ride on the bar on it, just the hood and drops?

Not sure what you're saying. Most flat top aero drop bars aren't taped to the tops. Kinda defeats the purpose of making the top section aero if you're just going to cover it with tape.

are they done selling skinny seatstays to the consumer that they have to revert back to thick tubes to move more units?

"even more lateral stiffness, yet still vertically compliant"

It looks like they are using their IsoSpeed decoupler thingy to make it "vertically compliant", but stiffening the stays in the name of aero.

The nice thing about the USA...you can claim any BS in your design in advertising material for a bicycle...and you don't have to show a word of it as factual. That being said...the fads come and go. How long ago was it shark-finned seat tubes?

Pinarello was trying to make a comeback of the rear unishock during on of the Spring Classics...which went terribly badly when Sky got dumped so bad it was funny.

Trek mostly stayed away from extreme aero type stuff until now. The Venge isn't quite like this. It will be interesting to see how it compares with their competition including other Trek models.

Trek can impress me by coming out with a steel road racing bike. And not some special edition that costs $8000.

Personally, I find it difficult to get worked up about any mass-produced carbon bike. Personally, I see these bikes as commodities. At least Trek moved the rear brake up to the stays, where it belongs. Ditch the press fit BB and the bike becomes more interesting to me.

I can't wrap my head around that all-in-one stem/handlebar/headtube/brake/fork setup. I dare somebody to buy one & break one of those pieces on it. ("Sure, we can replace it for you......That'll be $5,200 for the bars & looks like you only broke the left half of the caliper so just another $1,300 for that & you're on your way)

Actually, one of the pics makes it look like maaaaaaaybe those bars are adjustable??

Otherwise......I hope you're happy with your reach once & forever.

Cool looking bike & probably neat to ride but I'll observe from a distance.
