Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

i recommend picking up some zinc as well. just make sure its clean and dont use any soap or alchohol on it, and dont screw around with it outside of cleaning

So... LoP wanted to go for a ride on the tandem to see if the new piercing had made me any more daring and to test some mods he'd made. And I'll be damned if I didn't notice a change as soon as we headed down the driveway. In fact, the whole bike seemed different. Or maybe it was just the stoker's portion.

They really are and they work well with my Vans but- and this may be hard to tell from the angle I took the pic- dear sweet LoP had them lined up immediately next to each other which meant I would have to push down with both feet at the same time as if I were using an old-fashioned treadle sewing machine. I usually check both tires for sufficient air but I've never thought to check the location of the pedals before. Something new to add to the pre-flight list, I guess.

Ramona, perhaps it would help our understanding of the event if you shared with us the "pros" of getting the piercing instead of just the "cons". You went on and on about putting it off for 10 years, but you never said a word about "keeping it on" for the same 10 years. Except something about cycling improvements that I didn't understand. So what was the driving force?

I had one as well. It was many years ago and it has healed over. But, there is a rather ugly scar and it was quite painful when the doctor took it out.

The bling installation is not the part that hurt.

. . . 3cm scar.

I am upping my run mileage slowly but surely. Got over 8 miles in this morning. Not quite bike miles, but it's getting there.

Only piercings that I have were self-inflicted with tools. I'm not a handy guy.

I do have three tattoos, though. They're radiation targets.

In helping with my wife deciding to take up running I'm running with her on Saturdays and then alone on Wednesdays because if I'm going to do it I'm not going to half ass it. Yesterday I did a mile in 10:25 and cut 3.5 minutes off my 2 mile Wednesday route.

...no offense intended, but here in Sacramento, people who have garage sales on a Thursday morning are often surprised at the low turnout. #youwillkillemonSaturday

Sometimes that is the whole idea. Some folks think if they can do as well as a lemonade stand, all's well.

Towns around us seem to have different schedules for sales. Our area is Wednesday, Thursday. We did all right yesterday and I've made some money today.

My wife takes over at noon so I can ride.

BTW, the trap is defective. Ground squirrels can clean it out without tripping it.
