I just assume that basically no one actually shoots digital medium format. The cost is ridiculous for what you get and while a few can somehow manage to justify it, I think there's only about two of those people in the world. Full frame with fast lenses comes so close for so, so much less.

From our last sail trip a few weeks ago. I finally got a chance to go through all the photos on the plane today.
Two versions of this photo, I can't decide which one I like better. Either way, they both capture how it feels when these dolphin appear. It's like a dream, just this beautiful transient thing that comes out of nowhere and then dissolves back into nothing.
Which do y'all like better?
Version A: More dreamy

Version B: More dreamy-sharp, like when a dream is somehow both vivid & fuzzy at the same time.

I'm thinking B.

The place that I used to work for, Sound by Singer, essentially made Krell. Andy was the first to take on Dan's stuff and he trumpeted the hell out of it. In any event, none of the D'Agostinos are with Krell anymore; they were bought and kicked out a handful of years back. Both Dan and his son, Bret, have their own lines, now. The first couple generations of Bret's stuff sounded sweet: big, honkin', Class A buggers - iron fist in a velvet glove kind of stuff. Whenever my stuff decides to die, I'm going to hit him up (hopefully he'll still be around, it's a tough biz).

In the halo pic, it looks like the dolphin is suspended and not even moving. But in the splash pic, you get much better feel for what they are doing. Everything is very quick, they are weaving around each other and above then below the water constantly.
The love the ride they get from the bow. I imagine that it's the same kind of feeling cyclists get with a long beautiful descent.

My big rig was all Levinson gear except for the TT and the phono pre which was a Pass. The speakers varied starting with Maggie 3.5, then going to B&W 801 MIII, then I went with B&W N805.

Hydrodynamics...Amazing creatures. When I went out with my brother on his submarine, as he was piloting the ship out of Norfolk, we had about 10-15 dolphins playing in the bow wave. Leaping, spinning...totally cool.

It's actually why I have so many pics. I have it on me all the time.
Ridiculous thing is that I have 10,000 photos on my phone. So when I get a little down time, I've got stuff to play with in photoshop. They're all edited, I would almost never post anything raw.

...what does it have to fit on the seat post clamp end ? And what are the angles you can live with ? There's a bin of threadless stems over at the Bike Kitchen, but I have not looked in there in ages because most of my needs are fo quill stems.........I'll look if you're not in a big hurry. They usually go for 5 bucks or less.

My least favorite is A, but none are bad. Nice stuff, Heathpack

Sweet. The 801 Matrix III was the first real high-end speaker that I listened to; still have a soft spot for them, love the (now) totally dated styling. Really like Pass gear, too. Never got to play with the glory days Levinson stuff, by the time I got to it, it was pretty uninspiring.
