I do have one somewhere. One of the few things my father left me when he died... well actually, he didn't leave it to me, he left it to my sister, who passed it on to me along with some cuff-links; after all, what was she going to do with them?
I am not, however, much into bars worn on the tie.
Reading of chains and stuff, my next thoughts are with the old fob watch, and pince-nez. Very retro in both cases, I think.
Oh, and did you notice the Windsor knot in the tie?

Have to agree. Great series of videos.

I wear hi-viz work wear every work day, so getting dressed up is still something I like to do, a la this recently to go to the theatre:

Collar, tie and suit were de-rigeur when I was a journalist and editor, but those days a long gone... although I do have the occasional dream about becoming a suit of some sort again.
I've lost around 22kg over the past several years, and I had to buy a new suit recently because the old one looked like a potato sack on me. No suspenders needed; just a belt.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to seek out some brown/NOT black ones and go for broke this winter. Most of my button up long sleeve casuals have a lot of reds and earth tones. I occasionally wear khakis as well. I've always been a do-your-own-thing kind of guy when it came to fashion, so why not now?

That's the strange thing, though. I'm talking about rocking the suspenders with jeans. IDGAF.

Robert, it's obvious you don't care what you eat, so long as it's processed, convenient and trouble-free. That's your choice, and good luck with that.
Now if someone were to call you a sucker or an idiot for taking your stance you might be the first one to complain that it's an insult, when actually your "panties" comment is every bit an insult as well. This is exactly how feuds typically start on these forums.
So in the interest of avoiding a feud it would be appreciated if you removed your insult before others respond in kind and then I'm caught in the middle. And I'd hate to see what might happen if some other mod peeked in here and didn't agree with my pacifist approach. Get my drift?

In other news: Baby WO2W may finally have a name. After months of agonizing and trying to pick something that wasn't too weird, but not too popular, we landed on a name that has been in the top ten for 2+ decades, and was number 1 for a little over a decade until a couple of years ago.
I'm not sure what's wrong with me. Full name: Jacob Sylvan Whitney. (I'm Jonathan Whitney BTW)
Yeah, it has been mega popular, but looking at some maps it appears that during its longest run at the top, it was mostly northern and midwestern states that used it, not the south/southwest where we are. We thought really hard and couldn't think of a single Jacob we knew growing up and we couldn't think of any families we knew with kids named Jacob. And really, we just love the way the full name sounds. The middle name requires some backstory, but the short version: a band I've known for years released an album called Sylva recently and it's gorgeous and helped me grieve my father's passing. It's of Latin origin and means wood or forest.
Man, naming kids is hard.

I should say that the greatest name I have ever heard was owned by a little girl my wife taught: Whitney Rothschild. Gotta be successful, right?

Are you saying I have a big nose?

Personally, I was thinking I was starting to look like Rick from Walking Dead season 5.

...I kept some ties from waaaay back when I wore them to work in an office. I kept them mainly to remind me never to work in an office again.

Course, when I went to school in the Olde Country, I tied it one time, then hung it on a door knob every night.

I used to be all about the full windsor because it had this air of sophistication about it to a teenage me. These days with the narrower ties in style, I prefer the Half Windsor, if I even wear a tie which is super rare these days.
