Ha! We here in the Antipodes are on the edge of summer... and snow is forecast down to 500m (about 1600') on Wednesday. This will go with the strong winds we have had for the past goodness knows how long.

If the accompanying air valve doesn't work, I've seen that people have installed an old Presta valve (with valve body removed, but keep the cap around to close it up) on the back of the can to avoid the gurgle.

I've certainly come across a few spirited threads in my search for something that doesn't suck. Looks like my cheap solution will be:

And in other weather news: I finally rode the bike to work again this morning. After laying out clothes for 45 degrees, I woke up to the weather telling me it was 30 degrees outside. So I swapped my shorts+knee warmers for my insulated knicker bibs. Did not freeze. Had fun. Roads are much more peaceful with the schools closed for Thanksgiving break. Made me thankful.

I'm not sure removing the vent to reduce fumes going into the air and thus causing spillage of gas on the ground, into the water, down the side of the car, on the hot mower muffler, etc. is really having the intended impact.

I hang on to my CV cans. I have 4 or 5 in the garage.

This whole Thanksgiving break and weekend looks like it will be rained out for me. One of the reasons I got on the bike this morning is because I don't think any riding is going to happen over the break. Sucks.

As it turns out, if the desktop is actually dead, I'll be waiting for the Skylake NUC to drop before building one - I want native 4k on any HTPC I build now. That'll be out in a month or so, with the i3 oddly arriving first. Good enough for my purposes.

In other news, slightly over 46 miles of running last week. New record. Easy week this week, other than the Turkey Trot, and next week I'm not sure what I'll do in the run-up to the first half-marathon of the season.

I bought a really awesome wool ibex base layer and am looking forward to some chilly weather here. It may hit 50f on my night commute this week.

I started having someone do my lawn when I had my heart attack in 1997. Best excuse ever, but I don't actually recommend it. Never stopped after that though I could have certainly resumed doing it myself. A very sweet luxury. Now that we are in the townhome (group of three units), the little there is to do is handled by my old lawn guy and paid for by all three of the owners.
