Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I never really paid attention to these guys, but I stumbled upon their website today.

I've seen their frames on Ebay and I have always wondered about them.

Anybody have or know about these frames.

The Blackbird looks reasonably priced. They also have a Ti frame for $1K.

Bikes: Monkey SS everythingbike, Ti frankenroadbike

There's also TiSports. They have frames in more sizes than they list, and generally act as an OEM mfctr. Another inexpensive frame choice is Habanero. Curious if folks have had experience with these either.

I'm partial to the Manhattan Project frameset.

Looks like a good deal... assuming wheels are included, which they claim it's a complete bike.

Before answering the question below, you know I have a thing for steel, this is AL + CF SS&CS... would I be unhappy on this compared to full OX?

The Blackbird geo is: 57cmST(c-t), 56TT(effective), and 17.5cm Head-tube.

My pro-measuring has me at 57x55x18...

Whatcha think? Close enough?

A few years ago, Airborne and Habanero sold frames for similar prices. Both are made in mainland China, probably using military surplus titanium and machinery. Today, Airborne charges 2 or 3 times as much as Habanero. If you want a Chinese bike, I'd consider Habanero first. Airborne prices are not much different from Litespeed and other American companies.

I think that review said the welds did not look as nice. Or possibly one of the other reviews by C+.

Not a big deal.

That is pretty close. Funny how you just stumble on the right geometry sometimes. You should give aluminum a try. The price is $595 for the frame and maybe you could transfer some parts over.

Where did you get that from? Habanero full titanium frames are $695. Airborne Zepplin (their original road frame) is $1200.

what about the TT? It's 56cm and I need 55 + 90mm stem. IF I got this bike, should I got with a shorter stem?

80mm stem why not?

How close do the other dimensions match up?

Well. What can I say.

They sure look nice, they obviously perform well and the price is right.
A friend of mine (Felt dealer in my home town) visited the factory to have a look at the facilities, and have a chat with the gays. He ensured me that everything was looking good. He got to meet the bosses, staff and have a look at the production. I think he told me that out of everything they produced, 90% was for Airborne.

I’ve been riding the MP for like half a year now, and must say I’m quite happy with it.
The geometry is a little slacker than usual, but with a non setback seat post it fits me perfectly. I have rather long legs, meaning the top tube can easily get to long for me with a standard geometry. Can’t say it performs very good at something. It’s just one of those really super do it all bikes.

Bikes: '04 Giant TCR

What about the Thunderbolt frame for $299. Includes free headset, stem, post, & bars! Looks like it would make a nice racing bike.

I didn't realize they gave you a headset, stem, handlebars and seatpost for that price.
