Bond yield, but bond value? I guess I would look at them as a potential value safe harbor. But I am no expert.

Be very careful investing in bond funds in a rising interest rate environment. Think of a bond fund as a bond that never matures. In a rising interest rate market it can be difficult for bond fund managers to retain the fund value and income from interest.

god help you if you click off the page while writing a message, it closes the popup and takes its sweet ****ing time "autosaving the draft" so i end up writing half the email about 6 times. |
Just a wild ass bike forum's investment guess, but I suspect that the stock market is in for a 20-30% devaluation correction over the next 6 months - year, and that bonds will see a valuation change of much less than that. Again, just a wag on my part, based in part on an expectation that you will see a baby boomer move to dump stocks and get to bonds too quickly from fear of catastrophic loss.
I also read palms, do a fair Bill the Cat impression, and can bowl in three digits. |

From graduation of May in '14, I moved from bikes only and no car (ok, a "shared" car with the wife) all the way to a full time salary job, (used) BMW payment, buying life insurance, mortgage, and now I'm about to enroll in the company's 401K plan. Any advice for me on choosing funds? I mean, if we're handing out questionable medical advice, I figure I could get some questionable financial advice.

In the end of Fargo, season 2, someone gets a job, and is told that there are 401(k) benefits. The season was set in 1979, and I thought I had caught a blatant anachronism. But Mr. Google says that they were written into the tax code in '78. Like the Star Wars of investments.
Also in Fargo, season 2, the Corvair is painfully similar to my Dad's, but I can't tell exact year. Color match, interior and exterior, is spot on though. |

When I hear someone say they have a 401(k) I never assume they actually have a 401(k) since most people don't know the difference between a 401(k), IRA, SIMPLE, SEP, etc...

Mods need to put this blatant liar out of commission. http://www.bikeforums.net/general-cy...l#post18399110
Lazy trolls this week. :( |

We're getting missed by a big snow storm this weekend. :(
Snowing here right now, but it's that light stuff that doesn't really accumulate. |

Squalls sounds nautical. Reminds me of my days on a corn schooner, plying the amber waves of grain.
|
No snow here. We are supposed to have 48 degrees on Sunday.
|
We're back to blue skies and sun! Too bad it's 19 degrees with a 13 MPH wind.

So posting in the "dumbest thing you've done" thread reminded me that I finally checked in on Strava again and I've depressingly only managed 1400+ miles this year. This year has SUCKED for bike riding for me. And on top of it all, I'm seriously trying to plan for this 500k between Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve, so I glance at the weather and right now there is rain in the forecast for the 25-28. :bang:
|
I was hoping to hit 3k this year, but only did 2,300. Although that's 400 more miles than the year before which was 400 more than the year before that so I am trending upward at least.
|
I'm approaching 2k miles for the year which is not bad for me lately.
