I knew there was a datlas connection somewhere.

A week ago this past Monday I started feeling like a cold was coming on. On Thursday I was feeling worse, so, off to the doc (not datlas). He identified it as a sinus infection. Antibiotics for a week now and I feel more betterer.

@BillyD The first one wasn't even the best! Most people say Empire Strikes Back is their favorite. I kind of vaguely remember watching ROTJ a lot as a kid, but really hardcore fans tend to despise the Ewoks, which I of course loved as a kid.

The prequels were really, really rough. I tried watching Phantom Menace a few months ago and couldn't get past the pod race scene.

I also tried watching the "Lucasified" original trilogy with all the unnecessary added CGI BS and I couldn't make it past the Mos Eisley scene in the first movie.

The first one was ground breaking for it's time based on special effects. The story was nothing new, and everything fit neatly in it's run time. The second one was ground breaking for it's story and dark ending. You walked out of Empire demanding to know how it ended. Unfortunately, it ended in Return of the Jedi.

I have the first three Star Wars on VHS.

I also have the DVD set that came out after the three prequels.

Holy cow, the nashbar-flatbar troll showed up in the commuting forum and upped the anti with a genuine Gucci shopping bag. Not even joking.

Is that new Star Wars flick on Netflix yet?

Why not? Misery loves company. Builds character.

Hmmmm, was it the projector? Or was it really a Light Saber?

Doug28450 12-18-15 10:21 AM

I joked about it earlier, but, I just want to make sure.

This Star Wars release really is a remake of the first, correct?

WalksOn2Wheels 12-18-15 10:21 AM

My kiddo was diagnosed with an acute upper respiratory infection, which she most 100% got from snotty kids at daycare. My wife just started coming down with a cold, and I'm almost positive I have it to, but am fighting/denying it. I skipped riding to work today, though I was planning on it (even optimistically bought some tights just last night). Both mornings I've woken up with the sore throat/sniffles and pop a claritin which seems to fight off the symptoms for the rest of the day. Drinking lots of water, etc.

Yeah, we thought you were joking. Why would Carrie Fisher, Harrison Ford and Mark Hammil star in a movie that is supposed to be a remake of something they starred in almost 40 years ago?

Which one has the epic "I'm your father" scene? And which one has Billy D. Williams in the cast?

Maybe that's what I should get.

Empire Strikes Back has both. Return also has Billy D.

So outside of getting giddy about the new Star Wars, I'm really adulting the hell out of life lately. From graduation of May in '14, I moved from bikes only and no car (ok, a "shared" car with the wife) all the way to a full time salary job, (used) BMW payment, buying life insurance, mortgage, and now I'm about to enroll in the company's 401K plan. Any advice for me on choosing funds? I mean, if we're handing out questionable medical advice, I figure I could get some questionable financial advice.

Thanks for the heads-up; gotta go over and read it now. Badger almost missed it; Badger wants to see what all the haterzzzzzzzzzz will say.

Off topic, but:
Were you ever chilling at your computer, with your faithful pooch sleeping by your side, and he/she quietly lets go with a room-clearing stinker?

Daayum, dawg, WTF did you eat!!?? And the windows are closed for winter and it's too chilly to turn on the fan?

Just asking. :o

You've made an excellent decision to come here for questionable advice. I believe that we can dispense plenty of questionable financial advice.

I'm looking forward to the day when we start dispensing questionable Structural Engineering advice. I've got 24 years of that built up.

Whatever, just make sure to participate and don't ever touch it. In 30-40 years you'll be glad you did.

My girls fart all the time.

Even when they don't.

RPK79 12-18-15 10:58 AM

Cats don't fart often, but mine have let out some real stinkers.

Penny stocks are always a good option. How much could you possibly lose?

Straight to the bottom with that suggestion.

datlas 12-18-15 11:58 AM

I was 12 when the first Star Wars came out. It blew everyone away. It was NOT called "Episode IV" when first released BTW.

I saw and enjoyed the second one, which in some ways was even better. The third one was good but too much cuteness (ewoks, happy ending, etc).

I actually did see the next one (Episode 1, I forget its name) and was incredibly disappointed. Jar Jar Binks, WTF??

I did not see the next two. Ever.

Will probably see the new one, if only for nostalgia.
