Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

I was worried I might hate cycling

Just got a Trek 1000...and love it. AFter my first ride out I was worried. I guess going out on a cold, windy evening made it far more miserable than it should be. Today was great. I'm sure I'm not doing many miles compared to what most of you do, but I'm working on it (and any miles are more exercise than what I was doing before: nothing).

Quick question: Where should I put my weight while braking? If I'm using just rear brake should I move my body back over the rear wheel...or forward? Use both brakes together always? Does it matter?
