Road Cycling “It is by riding a bicycle that you learn the contours of a country best, since you have to sweat up the hills and coast down them. Thus you remember them as they actually are, while in a motor car only a high hill impresses you, and you have no such accurate remembrance of country you have driven through as you gain by riding a bicycle.” -- Ernest Hemingway

Beer

What's better than a cold brew to celebrate with friends after a ride? This is of course no substitute for the 20 minute window when we eat protein, carbs and fat to refuel. But after that, we must toast to frienship and a good day of riding.

What's your elixar of choice.

Mine:
Pilsner Urquell
Dillon Dam Sweet Georges Brown
Kaltenberg Castle Hefe Wiesen
New Belgium Fat Tire (of course)
Guiness

After the coffee, I was waiting for this
I drink a lot of homebrew, but I also drink a lot of other stuff.
When in the Northeast, drink Magic Hat (#9)
When in PA, drink Victory (hopdevil)
When in Colorado...mmm, lots of microbrew to choose from, but you can't go wrong with any of the New Belgium beers.
And of course there is a place in my heart for Steel Reserve

I'd have to say Fat Tire has to be the ultimate biking beer and is one of my favorites.

I also like German Weisens and Murphy's Stout.

Augustiner and Werner Bräu while in Germany. Becks is another good beer while over there, but it doesn't seem to taste as good imported. Maybe its all in my head.

Maritime Pacific, Hales, Pike Place (all local Seattle brews with multiple choices)
Stella Artois (Belgian Pils) but only on tap it is not as good out of the bottle
Guiness (needs no introduction)
Shiner Blonde and Bock (great Texas made beer now getting wider distribution)
St. Arnold's (brewed in Houston the brewery is worth the trip just for the tasting room)
Widmer Hefeweizen (Portland)
Nothing that is Bud, Coors, Miller, etc.

Upland Wheat from Bloomington, In is my favorite beer.

I'm also a big fat tire and Boulevard Brewing Co's wheat ale fan.
