Im actually studying to be a Mechanical Engineer and took a Materials engineering class this past semester....so its not chines to me...thing is that the differences from one "mix/composition" of steel to another and the same for Ti, there are big differences on properties and values...
Ill email Litespeed for and explanation of what all there material reference numbers mean

I send that link to anyone who asks about bicycling materials, good and in-depth...
Rather than write a bunch of stuff I've only crammed for, and then try and spew it out in some cognitive fashion... I've found a good link
Sides, if there's any discrepancies, I'll let you get angry at the author of that website and not me... LOL

AEsco48,
You shouldn't blindly choose either of these bikes. But in real life a test ride is not always available. Here's what I did recently. I bought from preownedbikes off ebay. Preownedbikes is a subsidiary of the parent company that makes Litespeed. My Litespeed Tuscany was refurbished at the factory in Chattanooga. I got a great deal, plus a five day window during which I could return the bike for a full refund (stipulation is it has to be in the condition that you purchased it so ride it carefully).
Also, your prof will be more impressed by the Litespeed.

You can talk about how the 6 Aluminum and 4 Vanadium Combo fits nicely into the intersticies of the Ti matrix, and also how the ionic lattice is held more tightly because of polarization that occurs during casting [Btw, I'm BSing here.. so you see, I can't give you advice.. just lead you to it..]

It's kinda the same only different...
After all the smoke clears you'll find me riding a custom steel bike.
Ti is a cool material, not necessary for bikes though and way not worth the cost.
I have more to say about this, but just don't have the time. I'm hungry.
Get what you want.

Got ride of a Merlin Extralight for a custom carbon fiber . . .
An c/f is extralight, does not rust, sucks up more vibration, etc., etc . . .

Why does iron have to rear it's ugly head in steel? I would've been on a Superprodigy instead of what I've got now... But I don't like red... or do I [my name]?

sydney is still full of craps.
It is just simply that for the same structural built components: Ti component is lighter and tougher to break than the steel/aluminum one. Why? Ti is simply a stronger and lighter material.
No need for Young Modulus, inter-molecular bonding, or any sydney the wannable references really.
Every body knows sydney completed Material Physics and Engineering 101 along with Basic Chemistry and Physics in his sophomore year

I suggest you relent and accept that statement as fact.
Me? I know what I can remember to parrot from the guys who do know, and info from the net. I know Sydney is right. And I know you're going to come out of this looking like azz.

I'm no defender, Hman. I've taken my licks from Sydney just like others here.
I'm just smart enough to know when I'm mistaken and when I'm correct.
I'm certainly smart enough to not resort to calling people stupid names ...it's a sure sign of weakness.

Maybe you guys haven't read up on the Niobium steel that is used. It is very strong and it's not that prone to rust, especially with a treatment of frame saver. I live in the friggin desert, rust is not an issue with me anyway.
Ti bikes that are built to ride like steel (vivacity) so they aren't noodly are often very close in weight and more than 100% more expensive, just not worth it to me. That gives me more money for some awesome hand built wheels, which is the 2nd most important factor in a comfortable and well handling bike.
And I ain't livin for ever, so I don't need a bike that will "last forever" what a marketing ploy.
I'm not buying into the market hype of Ti or Ti/CF bikes.
