Haste, Vanity & New Bike Choice
I want to get a new bike (centuries, general riding, no racing). Half of me wants to build something online at some place like Airborne. The other half wants to get some kind of Orbea. When I ask myself why, it basically comes down to that I want to have a choice of components (Airborne) versus wanting a "colorful" bike (Orbea). I'm open to suggestions of what to consider that will get me a relatively light, general road bike with a range of color and component choices. I'm a bit over 6'4" 195 lbs, live in central Arizona foothills/mountains at about 5400' and wold like to keep the price at under $3k. Any suggestions appreciated.

Why not get the best of both worlds? Buy a used Orbea frame off ebay and then just piece it together? Or heck, buy a new frame for a reasonable price and then buy a build kit or just piece the parts together. That's what I'm doing. So far, I've found some of the best prices @ www.repartocorse.com. Then again, I'm buying Campy stuff so I have no idea how they compare on Shimano.

If you want interesting and/or unique paint on your bike, check out Klein. You'll pay more than the parts are worth, but you can't get a paintjob like that anywhere else. If I had the disposable income to do it, I would. But I'm a rather poor sod and must stick with my pedestrian silver and black bike.
